Yep i know but it still doesn't encourage someone like me to use LBA and I'm not looking at a trip to Amsterdam so Easyjet wouldn't be in the equation. I'm looking at travelling to Stockholm and KLM price for LBA one way is £245 via AMS for MAN to connect onto the same flight to Stockholm is £107. Obviously both are the lowest fare. And it's not just LBA that has that challenge its replicated at other airports as well. But then Manchester has more rotations with KLM and also has EasyJet on the route whereas LBA only has KLM.
More seats equals lower fares, which is why I say LBA would have a better service if it weren't for MAN. KLM give us a somewhat inadequate service, that's got no better in the last decade, knowing any surplus demand will be catered for by a trip over the Pennines. It's so annoying!Yep i know but it still doesn't encourage someone like me to use LBA and I'm not looking at a trip to Amsterdam so Easyjet wouldn't be in the equation. Eastern don’t sell the tickets, KLM do. Eastern are just paid for the sector to cover all costs. They have no vested interest in how the individual routes are doing so long as they continue to be operated. And maybe Eastern are hoping any remaining pax will travel East and fly from HUY to AMS. Rock and a hard place springs to mind, although that is just me being cynical - for a change!!
Seriously though the LBA-AMS route does deserve better and KLM needs some competition. Then we will see what happens!
It’s not only that, all those pilots at Jet2, Easyjet, BA etc that started out at Eastern did their time and moved on. Where do these people go now that Flybe and others have gone? I appreciate in the context of LBA that it’s not what you want, but there’s far more in play hereIt is easy to criticise the impersonal company and I don’t exclude myself from that but we should always remember the human side, that there are people whose jobs are at stake here, people who have themselves and families to feed, keep a roof over their heads and pay the bills.
And all tomorrows flights too.FR24 now showing the this afternoon and evenings flights are now operated by KLM.
I presume the airline must now book hotels for crew on a ADHOC basis and presume more expensive then the deal they would of had previous
Tomorrows flights have now reverted to Eastern! And all tomorrows flights too.
Not any more. The afternoon flight is now shown as KLM. Meanwhile, Eastern E190 G- CMZI is busy doing other things. It's due in from HUY mid afternoon and although the outbound flight isn't yet shown on FR24, expect it to take Leeds United to Luton. And all tomorrows flights too.
Tomorrows flights have now reverted to Eastern!
Think that was everyone's understanding. However better to have the E170 than nothing at all (flight cancellations).I was under the impression we had a based E190 here? Why are we seeing E170 ops?
Could be tech or needed elsewhere?I was under the impression we had a based E190 here? Why are we seeing E170 ops?
You would think KLM would take bookings up to the maximum for the scheduled aircraft type. If they substitute a smaller aircraft they are potentially in an overbooking situation. They would then presumably either offer incentives to the 'overbooked' pax, or fly them to Manchester instead.Could be tech or needed elsewhere?
That is something KLM used to do frequently. I was thinking they'd stopped doing that now.You would think KLM would take bookings up to the maximum for the scheduled aircraft type.
