Thank you for sharing the photos. You can see there has been a real big push to get things sorted for school holiday at Easter. They will need the extra capacity of the security east hall by them.

You’re welcome. But I doubt anything will be ready by Easter.

Thanks @marni1971

I was in T2 two weeks ago and must say I do like the legacy T2 check in zone B area desks, it does look smart and those polished tiles are growing on me…

You’re welcome. But I doubt anything will be ready by Easter.

Check in zone B and I think 2/3 of the new security east lanes will soon open.
Don’t know about the north west school holidays, but a lot of the schools in England finished today (4th April).

Surely that cannot be the finished look for the circulation core? I’d assumed that it was partially completed pending other works, but if that is the end view then that is really poor.

Things coming along. Dual taxiway concreting between Pier C and B has been on the go for years it seems!

Yes! My thoughts too tbh!
I can only think it’s due to the stands opposite the cargo sheds not yet being available until pier 2 is open.

Unsure exactly when this was filmed, but let’s hope it’s still on a plan for a phased opening approach…🤞

It looks like there is still a lot of work to do on the pier before it opens. I can't see it being ready for the summer season. I guess that means there won't be any (or many) airlines moving from T1 to T2 in the next few months.
I think that video is a few weeks old, however, it does seem that it won't be ready when initially planned. But hopefully some part of it will be before the main summer holidays begins (i.e. mid July).

I'd heard murmurings of a "November fully operational" date.
Ironic you should say that, as a few months back, someone else on another forum mentioned that were speaking to a member of the Emirates staff in the T1 lounge of the airline and he stated the lounge opening in pier 2 would be delayed until November...this makes me think (if true), that Emirates will be the last to move over to T2 when the lounge is fully ready...in the meantime, I still expect a phased opening approach over the summer period until the full opening, so the likes of SAS, Finnair, Luxair, BA, Aer Lingus, airlines who use narrowbodies on their flights will surely be the next batch to transfer over, again with that phased opening of pier 2...

Does anyone know when BA move into T2. As I’m having to fly down to London in the summer due to engineering works on the trains.
BA and Aer Lingus are due to transfer over sometime in May, as the biometrics have now been installed at a lot of the gates in pier 1 and within the B gates area too.
This is the last info I have and they will be the next two airlines to transfer over, so indeed keep an eye out on your emails...

Could see new yellow stand signs for T2 legacy stands when I was south side yesterday. Doubtful Pier 3 is going to happen anytime soon then! Could see removal of one of the double airbridges on Pier C. Lots of activities on dual taxiway, concreting has taken years to complete for some reason! Lol

I wonder where this leaves Loganair then? As they will be the last airline in T3 aside from Ryanair and they like Ryanair would presumably need to be out of T3 check-in by June so the deadline for new security scanners can be met. They have also confirmed a T2 move by October and I'm assuming they and the passengers wouldn't fancy two terminal moves in one year.

These yellow stand signs are blank. I think pier 3 will happen but probably not until next year at the earliest, my personal opinion.

Ref the dual taxiway, yes it’s been done in stages over the last couple of years. Hopefully all will be complete by end of summer 🤞

I think Loganair will move over before the summer as the biometrics for domestic flights is almost fully in place.
October to T2, not sure where this has come from but surprised if true…

They announced that they're starting new routes in October to Exeter and Southampton, and stated that they will be in T2 by the time these start (which is why I thought they would be in there by October):

How will airport cope if Pier 3 built, loss of all legacy stands and current remotes between Pier 2 and C. Is it worth it, probably only small net stand gain? Maybe refurbish and reclad eastern Pier instead? Better investing in integration of T1 and T3 and taking down those eye sore towers!

Pier 3 would likely be able to accommodate a higher density. There’s 8 legacy stands, a full length pier 3 with appropriate gates could handle 14-16 medium bodies at once (using pier 1s west side as an example)

Like everything it’s down to money but the fact the legacy gates aren’t being refurbished may be a pointer.

Thanks for sharing the information on BA I'm going in August. On legacy T2 gates and Pier 3 in reality it's closer to 6 legacy gates when you factor in wide bodies because of the spacing needed. The idea of a Pier is having one side for code C aircraft so 737/A320's and the other side for code E and above. Say Pier 2 was just for OneWorld airlines then Pier 3 could be for SkyTeam as an example. If I was MAG management I would go over to AMS or PHL do a case study and way up the pro's and cons to making the airport all accessible airside because that's the only way MAN will become a competitive hub airport.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
