Looks great IMHO.

The seats look great too. I'm sure they're actually used at other UK airports these days. I'm sure I've seen them at Gatwick or Stansted, maybe someone will confirm.
#LBA #REGEN

Not wanting to detract from what is still a momentus occasion. A very minor constructive criticism - if you want to call it that.

I've seen posted somewhere that you have to go through doors to get to the new building from the existing departures. Surely these aren't staying? I imagine they might be fire doors but wouldn't a fire shutter be more appropriate in this instance if it is a necessity.

The temporary door route is next to gate 5, taking you through a temporary walkway to the rear of the old lounges. Once the old lounges are removed the route will be more open and flow better.

Following that, a route will be created to connect arrivals to the older part of the terminal for the western stands.

You don’t sign a new 14 year contact to provide new food and drink outlets at LBA like the SSP Group have done if you’re not confident that that the airport will go from strength to strength in the future. Little wonder the opposition are rattled as they can see the very thing they don’t want, the airport growing, happening before their very eyes and there’s nothing they can do about it except moan and criticise.

Speaking of the new LBA seating a quick trawl of the Internet shows this is installed in many airports including Edinburgh, Stansted, LAX, Keflavik.
Shown below is Madrid-Barajas Airport, seating provided by Green Furniture Concept and made from sustainable and
recycled materials.

So LBA is right up there with the best in terms of seating design.

Wouldn't fancy sitting on those for a couple of hours if my flight was delayed.

One thing I noticed on opening day is the area by the windows that was supposed to go to a small duty free vendor that obviously hasn't been installed yet and remains cordoned off. Wonder why? Will that come when everyone else moves in as part of phase 2?

I've actually just left a group on a certain social media outlet as the comments were doing my head in. Endless moaning from people who haven't even been in the new building. It's clear they're not happy about the airport doing something that negates the need to indulge in their favourite past time- moaning about LBA.

It seems that unless the floors are covered in shag pile carpets, and the seats are softly cushioned high quality leather, and entry to the lounges are free with all you can eat snd drink, whilst bars are permanenly in happy hour mode, they will complain. Then of course there are the usual complaints about drop off charges, that damned escalator , and anything else they can think of.
Ah yes, The Telegraph & Argus / Yorkshire Post Formation Moaning Teams. I've had many a run-in with these types over the years, no matter what happens anywhere it's not going to work, or nobody is going to use it, or it's "Typical <enter name of local council> waste of money" (regardless who is funding the thing being moaned about). And most of all they are most definitely never going to use them, so nobody else should else they will moan all the more.....

These people would moan about the colour of the bag if you gave them a big bag of money! :ROFLMAO:

Wouldn't fancy sitting on those for a couple of hours if my flight was delayed.
That's why airport pubs were invented... ;)

Would be nice if they could attach big bold lettering to the cladding at the top of the extension saying Welcome to Leeds Bradford Airport for arriving passengers to see. Or would that require yet another further planning application.

I'd be happy just to see the words 'Leeds Bradford' and nothing else. And get rid of all that 'Ey up' ***** too.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
