So annoyingly BA have announced an additional 6th daily Newcastle -Heathrow rotation, ok it maybe just a slot sitter.
But why couldn’t they have just put it into Leeds and reinstate our 1x daily service to Heathrow instead?

Frustratingly I’m having to use the LHR-MAN service next month. Only one-way home-bound mind you as going southbound on the LNER train service.

Because BA haven't really "announced" the extra NCL - they've just put it on sale and the airport has publicised it. It's for a very limited period too. And they can withdraw it from sale just as readily and quietly if they need the slot somewhere else.

Start LBA-LHR instead, big fanfare. Stop LBA-LHR as and when the slot is needed somewhere else, big hoo-hah. And you wouldn't launch a new route like LBA-LHR just for six weeks!

Tbf i think you answered your own question there!
But i suppose BA only know why they've not reinstated the route altogether.

Doubt LBA was ever in the running for Indigo's business, especially on the 787.
That in itself isn't a good enough reason as the 787 can operate out of Leeds even though it doesn't. Flights between Leeds and India might not be as popular as a route to Pakistan, arguably the same could be said for Manchester on its own. So for this reason flights to india will have a better reach from Manchester as people are prepared to travel there from neighbouring regions. A niche route and LBA might be in with more of a chance.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
