Local paper reported that for a 3 hour period from just after lunchtime virtually each MAN arrival got delayed due to thunderstorms in the vicinity

Weather rather tasty here in North Worcestershire also but nothing unusual happened here today except Qatar doing holding over Bromsgrove for a short time but this evening as been quiet.

My radio kept cutting out today due to a thunderstorm over my house while I was listening to the Northern Ireland-Ukraine football match, which was disrupted due to a thunderstorm over Lyon. Meanwhile the US Open Golf was called off for today due to a thunderstorm over Oakmont.

It seems everything got into BHX okay though :D

Apparently the Flybe flight on Thursday had a lightning strike.

Today's Vueling return flight to Barcelona, VY8755, is showing as cancelled with a new departure time of 06:00 tomorrow morning.

Echo your thoughts n it looks the incident is over. This could have been lot worse had the attack penetrated in to the terminal area. Live in such sad time were value of one's life means very little.

Looks as though we have 3 Ryanair's on their way from Stansted, EI-DWC (DUB), EI-ENL (OPO) and EI-DLO (TRF).

There is also a UPS 763 diverting but I'd imagine that will end up at EMA.

Terrible scenes in Istanbul at the moment.
Flights look to have been suspended so I'd imagine both BHX flights will be cancelled tomorrow.
Thought's with the families of those who have lost their lives :(

My deep sadness at this recent terrorist attack.

I echo your sentiments entirely.

Istanbul airport, people of all nationalities, races and faiths co-existing together happily. Perhaps, sharing a café table and chatting together, prior to their flight?

Then, suddenly gunned down by a faction whose only belief is vile hatred!

Together, we are strong. I'll happily walk, shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm and hand in hand with all those who show tolerance and understanding, whether that be race, religion or nationality etc.

An example -

Some years ago, while studying for my Masters Degree, my girlfriend was diagnosed with a serious illness. Somehow, I turned up for lectures, but asked my lecturer for a couple of minutes to discuss the situation.
My lecturer was a Muslim and on hearing of the situation, asked 'are you a religious man?' My reply - 'yes, I'm a Catholic'. To this, he asked 'would you like me to pray for her?'.
I can't begin to describe how much this meant to me.
I think of this often, and echoing the late Jo Cox, would agree that “We have far more in common than which divides us.”

Those who try to divide us can only fail. Together, we are invincible.

My thoughts and prayers to all of the families and friends affected by this heinous crime.

Kevin

Footnote - my girlfriend made a full recovery and is now back to nagging me continuously.

Ryanair 738 EI-DHZ departed BHX for Madrid and is now holding to the south west.

EDIT, It's now climbing through 16,000 and looks like it's on it's way.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
