Just a nice size aircraft for introducting some European routes out of Leeds ....... dream on!

Well you never know. At least Eastern has shown a determination to continue their operations out of LBA, and they must be aware that they would have a number of routes to themselves out of LBA. I would love to see them operate Berlin, Paris, Copenhagen, Brussels and Frankfurt out of LBA. It would be great to see them base one here - and a nice little competitor with Flybe out of DSA.

All those destinations (ex Berlin) warrant double daily operations to entice the business traveller, so they do not have the aircraft.
Having said that, it would be nice to see them operate FRA with a TGL in between. (y)

Good point. One flight a day would do only half the job , but it still leaves the six million dollar question ?

From what I have read elsewhere, their E170s are for the charter arm of their business.

I agree whoshotjimmi, I understand that the 2x new Eastern Airways Embraer 170's have different jobs lined up for them. 1st is been painted into British Airways livery and will operate on lease out of London City for BA Cityflyer operations. The 2nd will receive full Eastern Airways livery and will operate the British Aerospace charters flights MON-FRI whilst at weekends maybe used for private charters.
So you wont be seeing them operating scheduled flights out of LBA.

I have heard rumour that a 2nd Saab 2000 might appear based LBA soon. Reason why is unknown at this time!

A Saab 2000 could operate to Scandinavia or Germany. We can hope?

Shame the E170 won't grace LBA. But will look great in Eastern livery.

Spoke this weekend with head of charter operations for Eastern and they will be acquiring more E170's in the future. Mentioned LBIA was underserved and we needed some new routes esp to Scandinavia and Germany. He didn't comment but thought I'd sow the seed!!

Pity they can't put them on some of their domestic scheduled routes and make them cheaper!

Interesting find is this one, As anyone happen to know why Eastern Airways are advertising for crews to be based at Leeds, Humberside and Norwich to operate it's new fleet of 2x Embrear 170 aircraft on charter flights throughout Europe?
You are such a tease, lbaspotter.

Summer Holidays, one would imagine business travel weakens during this time whilst leisure travel strengthens. An example of this is Jet2 suddenly dropping DUS down to S,M,T,F flights, with only 2 evening flights to AMS on a T/Th.

Its looks like Eastern Airways Embraer 170, G-CIXW is currently a Leeds/Bradford based aircraft since it positioned in from Humberside yesterday lunchtime.
It operated Leeds-Aberdeen-Humberside in the afternoon before returning back Humberside-Aberdeen-Leeds in the evening. It seems to have done all 4x Leeds-Southampton-Leeds rotations today.
Meanwhile the based Saab 2000 seems to have done the Leeds-Aberdeen-Leeds rotations today instead of the usual BAe Jetstream 41..

So question is dose anyone know if the current Leeds based BAe Jetstream 41 has gone tech or are Eastern Airways short of crews?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
