Sooo... Yesterday put the cat amongst the pigeons. From MAN's perspective, it at least means the third runway should be kicked into the long grass for the foreseeable.

Obviously there will be a shock that I suspect will put the brakes on route expansion but I hope not the TP. It may give the impetus for further development of long haul routes to new trading partners in the Americas, Far East, Subcontinent and Australasia.

Quite how the rest of the economy will fare is anyone's guess.

Interesting day for MAN so far:

South East (LHR) runway decision postponed;
Most vocal critic of LHR does not stand as Conservative leader;
MAG issue statement asking the market to decide runway expansion.

Do we have the link where Manchester asked for market to decide on expansion?

As you were, found it. ..

I wish MAG "Manchester" would suggest UK business isn't hurting if you look at meteoric expansion up here......

And as for that £16bn privately investment, its a joke. They will need double that from the Treasury to make it work with new roads rail etc

Not sure Manchester has ever had a subsidy!

Aurigney Airlines will now offer twilight check in the day before, for its morning flight from Manchester (and Gatwick).

Not sure this is a flight that would particularly benefit, can't be a huge amount of hold baggage, but, nice to see more airlines offering this service all the same.

Anyone going to the RVP via bus should notice a change of operator from today - GHA Coaches went into liquidation last week and Howards Coaches are now running the service with the same times.

I'm sure I read in a post somewhere that MAN were predicting 100,000 pax on one day - I think it was last Friday week, July 22nd. Do we know if that was achieved? Surprised it wasn't in the M.E.N. if so.

For the stats buffs, that is an average of over 90,000 PAX per day. I wonder how many 100k days there were?

Is August a busier month than July? I wonder if 3m is on the cards?

Couple of MAN routes on a Routesonline vote to use as a case study presentation.

1 - Oman
2 - Singapore/Houston.

Be interesting to hear more about one of those. Have a look in their website and vote as you see fit.

Could you post the link please Dobbo as I can't seem to find voting on routes on their website.

Easybus are starting a new service from Telford to Manchester airport via Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Wrexham and Chester.

This service has previously only been available at LGW/STN/LTN/GVA/CDG and PSA.

Nice to see the easy franchise expand at MAN to tap into more potential passenger volumes.

Just a momentary lull 😉 May be the MAN hierarchy is co-ordinating the route and infrastructure announcements so that each has the limelight for a couple of weeks or so.

I've never known a situation when both BHX and MAN seem to revealing new routes on a weekly basis for months on end!

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
