Well I know for a fact that LBA management are trying to attract a certain airline to operate LBA to Islamabad , but no idea which airline that is, or how likely it is ever to happen. It is hard to imagine it being PIA though and far more likely to be an airline that is equipped with a narrow body long range aircraft. Whoever that may be. I believe that a deputation had been sent to Pakistan to try and make the case for the re-instatement of the route, but as is usually the case in the aviation industry, we often have to wait for years for anything to happen!

No probs with the Boeing 777-200ER/LR into LBA on a 7 hour flight to ISB, same with B767, B787-800 or Airbus A330-200 as it a short flight with only half its fuel required. so in theory it could take off with a full passenger & baggage load but it maybe limited cargo wise outbound. Cargo uplift is where the money would be lost.

I suspect the larger Boeing 777-300 or Airbus A330-300 would be too heavy, but you've also got the added problem of the triple axle bogie rubbing up the Concrete surface.

No problems lbaspotter ? Really
I can think of many and they would be out of their minds to contemplate it and like last time the operational guys pulled the whole plan.

Fight2win reckons we could do with a longer runway lbaspotter what do you think? Hahaha
:)The main reason LBA aint the fantastic airport we want it to be is because of the runway length and field performance. When this issue is resolved then the airport will expand and grow like we want it to, end of! so none of the hahaha
some on here just cant face the truth! not that it will ever happen but if we had a 3000m runway, decent apron and terminal then it would be a different story at LBA.

Hi a300boy. Not in any way you at all. Too much respect for you. But we have been told to respect each other's opinions, quite rightly, but it appears we are not allowed to have any fun long the way. So the matter is closed. Fight2win I will there for apologise to you too in respect of restoring complete peace and harmony

That looks like it’s being made by someone very high up at PIA...
You only need to go the YouTube page that this video is from to find out it is made by a teenage aviation enthusiast. His other videos include model aircraft reviews... So, before we get any further down the road of "when PIA might turn up at LBA", let's wait until it's from a more reliable source.

or very low at Airliners.net :ROFLMAO:
Spot on.

Listen you don't need to apologise,im cool. its a forum so naturally when opinions are flying around sometimes words are said. end of the day its only because we are passionate about LBA!

We all respect one and other I hope !
If we can’t laugh a little what’s the point in debating anything and as we all want this place to progress we must be disappointed with recent events.
I would love to see the triple 7 wizz in and out of Lba and lbaspotter is correct as I am sure we could accommodate one even on our limited concrete !
A regular long haul operation with our weather and sometimes wet and slippery shortish runway with no Cat 3 capability likely is however a different matter.
Even our Jet 2 B757s are not capable of an autoland and BAs A319 can only accept 5 kts tailwind in Cat 3 weather we need a fix soon.

I believe one of the main issues is not so much runway length but the slope of the runway and the touchdown zones each set roughly 600metres down the runway mainly due to the nimbys. For example emirates operate the 777 into ncl and believe their runway is only 200metres longer?

Talk of PIA bringing 777s into LBA was first mooted way back when the airline was operating into LBA with the A310s. The local PIA base manager at the time sited space in the terminal as being the main reason for the delay in bringing the aircraft into Leeds. The arrivals meet and greet was their main bone of contention as was the possibility having to park the aircraft on a remote stand. Two issues which were more of an obstacle than actually getting the aircraft on the ground.

That's not very nice is it. We aren't exactly having a whale of a time, with all the stuff we have had canned this year. The axe might not have stopped yet for all we know. What price Tunisia not coming back next year, and how long will Eastern keep going on SOU??
