What a load of old cobblers. I won't say any more as if I did, it wouldn't be lady like. Not sure who these people think they are and how they claim to know that the residents of Leeds don't want this. I think she might be surprised frankly to find out how many do want it. I haven't come across anyone I have spoken to yet who has any concerns about it.

Unbelievably loud aircraft one quotes. These 'people' are blatant liars. I think even LCC will treat this propoganda with the contempt it deserves

Could setting up an online petition for supporters be worthwhile?

I can't help wondering once again whether the YEP have, once again, been selective with regard to the comments raised by the councillors. They have quoted just two who have misgivings about not having enough information. I suspect that what they are wanting to know is more about how many extra flights this will generate, how many more flights between 0600 and 0700 or after 2330 (not many I suspect) and other things along those lines. The fact they are setting up a working group to discuss and better understand is good, but even the airport cannot be sure of these things as they are determined by the wishes of airlines, and some of these don't even operate from the airport yet. Maybe they will come, maybe they won't. LBA don't have a crystal ball. Hopefully LBA directors will be able to explain how the world of aviation works . I do suspect though the YEP have sought out the slightly negative councillors rather than any that might have had positive things to say.

It would be nice if Judith Blake at least acknowledged receipt of emails sent to her, but it seems not. I wrote to her a couple of weeks ago and have had nothing to confirm she received it, let alone read it. However, I guess this isn't actually her responsibility at this time. She has a planning department to deal with this application when it arrives - I wonder if she participated in today's little get together with the airport?

However effective or ineffective she is, in the past, when commenting on the airport, she has always sounded quite positive. I fail to see how any councillor and especially the leader of the council could ever not sanction an investment in their city on this scale. It is almost unprecedented for this city and definitely is as far as the airport is concerned. One of the reasons given for the council's selling LBA was that they could not fund the developments needed at the airport in the coming years, so what AMP are offering now is exactly what they were hoping for when they sold it. All that has changed is the climate apparently. Certainly nothing has changed in terms of the endless whinging from some people who jump on bandwagons and moan about this that and the other, much of which they haven't even bothered to research.

To be honest, the drivel being spoken by this woman in Headingley isn't such a problem as even the councillors will know that it is just that . Drivel. People who exaggerate wildly rarely get taken notice of. Headingley is a hive of activity for much of the day and night and she is complaining about loud aircraft? She really needs to give herself a shake and get a life.

I’d suggest you hold fire. This will be a planning application and the council leader cannot have any say in the matter. The council leader sets policy which, as we have discussed, is broadly supportive of the airport. The time to show support is when the main planning application goes in and at that point the airport and supporter groups need to get as many people lodging a formal statement of support as possible. The good news from today is that the airport will see what they are up against and it will hopefully motivate them to get as many names as possible

Call it a pre-app support email. There's no harm in emailing them so long as you are prepared to email them again when the planning application goes in.

i think to be recognised as a statement of support it has to be allocated to a specific planning application number and then the planning department will include it in their assessment of the application. I agree showing support is a good thing, but I’m sure you will have to comment again once the application goes in for it to ‘count’

Statto...please may I ask again...do you work for the airport? I've no objection to this (and would really really welcome your thoughts and input)as long as we are aware of this and it's clear in terms of it being a form of social media influencing. I know a lot of big companies have staff employed to do this now . No objection and appreciate your knowledge as long as its transparent.

Interesting article in the paper...in the 20 years that UK has debated 3rd runway at LHR, China has built 100 airports.
With another 200 planned to be built in the next 15 years.

Now there is a cause for the tree huggers and environmentalists to get behind!
I've mentioned that to the activists before when they've demonstrated against Bristol Airport expansion. The last time was last Friday and I've included a summary of my conversation with an activist on that demonstration in a BRS thread. India has plans for 100 new airports in the next 15 years or so too.

Their answer is that Bristol is their local airport and therefore a legitimate target.

Could someone please confirm if the public consultaion regarding the new terminal on 8 - 11 February is taking place at the Britannia Hotel in Bramhope. I was told by someone this morning it was at the Mercure Parkway so am confused(I know it doesn't take much :) )
Thanks in anticipation

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
