Yes it is the Mercure Parkway, next to Golden Acre Park, on the A660 between Adel and Bramhope.

Originally the airport said it was 'the hotel in Bramhope' which is the Britannia, where they did it last time. The Parkway isn't in Bramhope, but it turns out that is where it is now. Its on Saturday from 1000 until 1400 and on Monday from 1500 until 2000.

I put in my letter to the council that any successful city needs a first class airport to match its economic aspirations.

.....I didnt mention this but it also needs a successful footie team too because that in itself brings in economic benefits.

....and I partly blame the council for the demise of LUFC !!!!

And...We had all this kerfuffle about Channel 4 coming to Leeds yet a new airport is a far bigger deal. It now transpires (according to the YEP) that no C4 execs will be based in Leeds and continuity are staying in London too. How can that be a HQ if none of the senior team are here.

Yet a really strong bonus for the city like the new terminal has to be discussed and debated at the council for ages.

Oooh...and why didnt the climate change lobby and LCC object to all the unnecessary travelling that will be needed to this pretend C4 HQ! It's just double standards.

I’ll definitely be heading down for a look.

Will there be any more images, especially how the inside of the terminal will look?

I’m hopeful for open spaces with high ceilings.

:wtf:

In respect of the Mercure hotel events in the next few days, will there be an opportunity to register your support in writing ??
I was told by LBA that yes, there will be. Also that the statement of support that I sent them, or a document based on it, will be put on the LBA website once the application has gone into the planning authority, enabling people to register their support on line. I assume that LBA will collate all of the responses and submit them directly to the council, but I hope to speak to my contact on Monday to just find out how they intend to deal with this.

I have just returned from the consultation event. Well organised event with hard copy support forms to complete. Had a lengthy chat with Charles Johnson (LBA) and a Leeds University student who seemed anti LBA. A few Extinction Rebellion morons were present. I managed to keep my composure but only just!!

I must congratulate LBA for their common sense and easily readable document which explains clearly and concisely what their proposals, and the benefits of those proposals, are.

They have taken the trouble to explain fully the constraints they would have imposed on themselves and the traveling public had they proceeded with the already approved application and in submitting their revised application, even though the costs involved have increased significantly, have taken account of the needs of both local residents and the traveling public at the same time as providing a carbon neutral facility that Yorkshire and Leeds in particular can be proud of.

Needless to say I welcome these proposals and will be supporting this application wholeheartedly and would encourage others to fully get behind them rather than just applauding them silently which is usually the case.

Yes I noticed the ER’s and even had a chat with a couple, as you’d expect they’re very passionate about their agenda. I stood listening with interest as utter drivel came out of them, they were so far off the mark it’s unreal with one even trying to tell me 747’s would be flying over Horsforth every hour of the day!!

I then tried to educate them with the knowledge I’ve build up over working at various uk airports for both service providers and our resident airline.

deaf ears as expected...

Anyway it was a great insight and I cannot wait to see more!

I know what you mean. Because Bristol Airport has been expanding almost constantly this century (there is a major planning application tabled for a decision on Monday) the 'antis' have been around for many years in well-organised groups, with Extinction Rebellion now swelling their numbers. Over the years I've had a number of conversations with various activists at demonstrations, protests and marches with the results you highlight.

Usually they are nice people, difficult to become angry with (not that I would because that usually means you've probably lost the argument) and very passionate about and convinced of the rightness of their beliefs. Their actions are often hyocritical - one young activist openly admitted that to me last week at an anti-airport march and demonstration - but those who believe that climate change is the main reason for opposing airport development anywhere feel that time is short to get across their views and forms of direct action the only way to achieve this.

I can empathise with parts of their arguments but most are too single-issue and tunnel-vision orientated to be able to form a rounded view.

I'm impressed with what I see, a true airport feel to the terminal. Loads of natural light and high ceilings. Just feel as usual like at Manchester with their Terminal 2 expansion that the designs will get watered down. The living wall featured in the arrivals hall at leeds was similar in the proposals at Manchester in their departures area and that has been dropped in the scheme. I hope that come about as its a nice touch along with the wavy ceiling.

A very good point you make @mode1 and one that I made with my additional comments with my submission. I think it would be an absolute shame if the watered the plans down later. During the write-up about the proposal there's a comment about using materials that will stand the test of time. To me that means high quality with every aspect of the build to ensure it lasts.

What is there that there isn't to like in the shots in #2,988 provided by mode1? It shows a modern airport with space and light that we are all used to when we go abroad.

I will be amazed if anyone can find fault with these proposals (except of course for the brain dead ER) as the existing facility is so unsuitable for the today's modern world.

The existing terminal gives a terrible impression to incoming visitors and business people and is holding the City and Region back and shows it as being so old fashioned that any aspirations for improvement are being quashed by an inward looking and retro centric local authority.

very impressed by the plans, the pier extends all the way upto the exiting terminal so a good length. As mentioned in one of my previous posts roundabouts are to be used to ease traffic flow and more eco friendly if used correctly and takes traffic away from the very btm of whitehouse lane and Scotland lane. In the future there is the potential to extend out from the other side with a second pier.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
