Amazing how aviation takes the brunt of all the criticism for contributing to climate change whilst shipping, that uses the dirtiest and most polluting of fuels, heavy fuel oil (bunker fuel) escapes lightly. Imagine the amount of gunk a vessel travelling from Australia to the U.K., a voyage of six weeks, chucks out into the atmosphere during its voyage.

To be fair many of the larger shipping lines no longer use furnace oil, they have switched to cleaner and more expensive alternatives, contributing to the increased costs of shipping containers. Theres a lot still to be done though.

You’re right but the aviation sector is still unfairly targeted compared to other more polluting sectors.

Has mr jenrick disappeared off the face of the earth, is he ever going to make a decision on our new eco terminal, or perhaps he is just too busy with other duties like Mr hancock!!

He may have actually retreated into his office to do some work. I haven't heard/seen him on the airwaves/doing the rounds in the various TV outlets.

Let’s hope he’s actually “working” his office and not doing other things such as what a certain former Health sec was. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors.

Working in his office making the decision to approve LBA. I’m unsure @LBA4EVER when he will make his decision. He doesn’t communicate well so who knows when….

The Parliamentary summer recess runs from 22 July to 6 September, closely followed the United Nations Climate Change conference in Glasgow on 1November, chaired by the U.K., so let’s hope we don’t have to wait until the Autumn for him to get his act together and announce the decision.

I noticed that Jenrick was in TV this morning, accompanied by nine other than our anti LBA book writing MP, Rachel Reeves. I imagine she might well have taken the opportunity to bend his ear about blocking the terminal development and forcing a public inquiry. That's if he ever gets around to even bothering with it. It's an insult to the airport, city, and region, that something so important is being deliberately blocked with no decision made.

Surely there must be mounting pressure on Jenrick from various sources for a decision to be made? It's utter madness that this situation is still ongoing.LBA must be rapidly losing patience, not to mention LCC who have already approved. At what point do LBA say right, we now implement the terminal extension to the existing building.

I wish he would be challenged on this when he’s on the programs. Just seems pointless to block it and cause unnecessary delay. I’m probably one of the youngest members on here and at this rate I’ll be in my 80s when it will finally be in operation!

I personally think the mayor should be bringing this up with him. If she cares so much about jobs then she needs to push for it to be approved to save the jobs already there and add more In the future. And not just listen to the usual clap-trap we hear on a daily basis from tree eaters.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
