This is a golden opportunity. Its going to be embarassing declining to provide anyone but preferable to putting forward someone who isnt our best shot.

We don't even know what they have in mind. Personally I don't trust Leeds Live. They may intend matching us up with opponent's and turning it into a fight. They have always previously been anti airport. It's not embarrassing at all. We all have lives to live, unlike (it would seem) the GALBA lot who seem to have nothing better to do.

The airport owners and senior management might be taking the view that the people they have to convince are the Leeds City Council planning councillors not a self-appointed single issue organisation like GALBA and its fellow travellers.

The airport's case is compelling so make it to the people who matter at the appropriate time, ie on Thursday of this week.
I agree, but, he has been conspicuous by his absence where previous new CEOs have done interviews . It's not GALBA he would be trying to convince, it's the public that need a better understanding and of course, others in a position to influence. Like I said, I am hoping that the fact the airport are not responding is a positive sign, not a negative one.

I do believe the airport management should and will represent their case at an appropriate time.
What you three senior forum members have done to support the proposal has been excelllent but it was AMP who decided to go for a new buiding and they are the organization who should be pushing the plans through and dispelling any fabrications.

I think we may see the words "the lba support group were invited to put forward their arguments, but declined" maybe we need to have a conversation with them to better understand what they want to get out of any zoom interview. If we have any doubts then could we ask them to put questions in writing? I presume they have a copy of the excellent statement we sent to the council so they should have the basis for an article based on that and could ask or written questions based on that.

They asked us to take part in an interview on zoom rather than provide a written response, and no they don't have a copy if what we sent to Councillors. They were personal emails rather than something to be sent to the likes of LeedsLive.
They have shown zero interest until now. It's too late to make a real difference. They are just piggybacking on the fuss caused by GALBA in my opinion.
That said, the Support Group represents all of us. Isn't there anyone out there who is zoom enabled who is willing and able to participate? So far it seems not.

Ultimately I agree, its the airports battle not ours. Trouble is we forum members have an emotional attachment and enthusiasm that none of the (ever changing) airport directors seem to share, which is frustrating , maybe we expect too much of them.

We don't want to be in a position in which the airport blame us for over stepping the mark in interviews etc so should we be consulting with them before we commit to any more media contact in these final few days?

Also, should we be switching this conversation to the private group?

I have zoom but im far from being in possession of the full facts and I don't want to put my foot in it. Theres really only you or Aviador in my opinion who we can consider as our best shot.

And neither of us are available. The bottom line is that the Planning Officer has recommended approval. Will someone taking part in a video on Leeds Live, convince the Panel to approve it? I think not. Will it achieve anything at all? Probably not. The airport didn't want to do BBC Look North today, so how will us doing an interview on Leeds Live achieve anything? It's a charade.

Having just watched Look North this the first time I have realised what a set of w*****s the BBC are. The local do gooders and several local MPs are clearly not a lot better. Short sightedness of the highest order. I am livid right now and have had to ensure the anger typing was limited to just one “w*****s” (oops that’s two)

and the tv license is going up £1.50 for all their fantastic accurate news coverage (not!) :rage:

I agree that an interview with Leeds Live is hardly likely to make any real difference to the outcome, its just an opportunity to put the facts straight. Its unfortunate that neither you nor Aviador are available at all today. So, would it be a good idea just to issue a statement to the effect that we find the report commissioned by the planning committee to be accurate in all respects, that it reflects our own views that the granting of planning permission will be to the overall benefit of the local and wider region?

You have all collectively done a fantastic job WH with the petition . Don't beat yourself up about it. The new CEO joined on 1st Feb. This would have been an ideal time to launch the first interview. Personally I'd have been doing interviews ahead of the 11th Feb but the airport and new CEO must have their reasons. I just hope it gets sorted on the 11th, in our favour, because I can't take much more of this stress.

Thank you for that. It's hard not to feel frustrated that we cannot do more. But there are limits to how much we can do. We do have lives to live beyond LBA.

Its very stressful and frustrating because the the body that has most to gain doesn't seem (thus far) to be defending its position publicly.

The new CEO should be 'leading from the front'. Theres still time for him to show what he's made of, but not much.

I get your points but believe you me there is things going on what we dont no about, its not like LBA management are like "oh whatever we will be sound". Due to the lockdown im unable to work at the moment so my days consist of checking the comments and news on this forum as well as my other interests online, but i must admit the stress and frustration is getting to me, im on edge regarding thursday even though im sure the plans will get approved. Last night I actually put together a little script for a media presentation but im just too shy on camera :nailbiting:
What i can say is that every member on here inc myself has given their support and contributed, we have tried our best and we should be proud of that!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
