They are already doing that with the Bristol case. They may be treating this as a test case in which case they may be able to secure funding from other eco type organisations.
For new members of the site, or for those just browsing, the above image shows aircraft parking stands which are essentially already there. The only new parking stands planned are those opposite the replacement terminal building for two aircraft. These only replace stands that are to be occupied by the replacement terminal which is to be built on part of the aircraft parking area.
Are they though? The environmental argument has already been won as 7.1mppa was approved in the previous planning application. In contrast Bristol is applying to increase passenger numbers. It's a completely different situation. If in 5 years time LBA decides to apply to handle 10mppa then we'll be in the same situation as BRS is now as it will be a new application to increase passengers beyond what has been agreed in the "route 2030". It will be incredibly difficult to disapprove what is essentially a replacement terminal building built on concrete that already exists. They are already doing that with the Bristol case.
I am simply saying what TheLocalYokel said - that anti airport groups aided by Extinction Rebellion are funding the challenge against Bristol Airport expansion, as they see it as a test case. Are they though? I have said before though that LBA and Bristol are very different. Even with 7.1m pax pa, LBA will be nowhere near the passenger throughput that Bristol already has and some 4m short of what they want.

I wonder what the Chinese would do with them if they tried to stop them building their 200 new airports. The holes are not deep enough.
Where is that quick sand when you need it or one of them tides that catches many out when it circles around people haha. The holes are not deep enough.
Well no problem there then if the campaign to stop it is a success. The good folk of West Yorkshire will simply be able to utilise the extra 15 mppa capacity increase from Manchester airport. The Labour deputy leader of Wakefield Council has come out and said the approval of the terminal is a disaster and he wishes the campaign to stop it success. This is the same party that generally approved it in Leeds and raised no formal objection in Bradford. Is it any wonder they can't win an election when all of them have opposite views. If the Labour Party win the West Yorkshire Mayor election then we could end up with a Mayor being challenged by her own party locally, for whom she is supposedly fighting!
The Labour party need to remember what the name of their party means and what they are supposed to stand for. Theres no wonder they did so badly at the last election. The Labour deputy leader of Wakefield Council has come out and said the approval of the terminal is a disaster and he wishes the campaign to stop it success. If Tracy Brabin, my local MP, does win the Mayoral election I get the impression she’s a woman with a mind of her own who won’t be too bothered about opposition from her misguided Labour MP colleagues in West Yorkshire. She currently represents a relatively poor area that desperately needs an economic boost so although she’s a supporter of measures to combat climate change she’s also aware of the necessity for balance when it comes for jobs. I could of course be entirely wrong! If the Labour Party win the West Yorkshire Mayor election then we could end up with a Mayor being challenged by her own party locally, for whom she is supposedly fighting!
