Mondays Tenerife flight is non based and I expect Sharm will get dropped.

Looks like the Monday Tenerife flight is now on the based aircraft.

Quick look at Summer 2022 and it looks like Naples will be back 1 weekly on a Monday but Marko mentioned on the BRS thread Faro has been dropped on Thursdays.
Naples must be a replacement for Sharm el Sheikh. Be interesting to see what slots into Faro place on Thursdays.

With TUI dropping Sharm and Faro, I wonder if they are considering purchasing seats on Wizz UK who presumably intend certainly operating to Faro and perhaps Sharm. I would have thought that Faro especially would have been a lucrative route for TUI as the only inclusive tour operator on the route from CWL.

If you look at faro they've never expanded it to 2 weekly like other destinations. They did use Flybe previously to offer 10 and 11 day holidays. With Ryanair and Wizz and Easyjet and Jet2? It might be that there's just too much capacity on the route in the whole area and that Faro is more a low cost carrier destination these days. Even though there different markets it's bound to have some effect. What it could mean is that they might look at putting either Heraklion or Larnaca as 2 weekly to provide 10 day holidays for those destinations or potentially add Bodrum to expand their Turkish offerings? Can't see another Greek island being added personally.
Hopefully TUI will continue to sell packages but just use Wizz flights.

I've delved further into what TUI do with Faro packages across the UK. I'm surprised how much TUI have cut back their own flying to FAO.
These are the routes TUI fly themselves:
LGW - 2x weekly
BHX - x2 weekly
EMA - 2x weekly
MAN - x2 weekly

These are the routes TUI offer using EZY
LTN, LPL, BFS, GLA

NCL, STN & SOU were on sale for 2021 but not currently on sale for 2022
FAO isn't offered from DSA in 2021 or 2022.

So either FAO has actually been dropped completely or they might start using Wizz, and if they strike a deal they could sell packages from DSA as well.
If they do strike a deal with Wizz then it will be interesting to see what happens. All of Wizz routes from CWL are holiday routes, all of which currently served by TUI, except SSH. SSH would be ideal for TUI to use as i'm sure there is demand for Sharm, just obviously not enough to completely fill TUI's own aircraft! If a deal is expanded, it could mean TUI reducing their own flight offering though....

Doesn't look like it on the holiday website though instore they may be able to. Faro is well covered though and Bourgas going 2 weekly gives people more options there.

It's possible but it is a popular route so they feel they'll make more money on it than Faro especially if they give customers more options.

TUI's first flight of the year operated out to FAO this morning from CWL on the (currently) only based aircraft - B738 G-FDZY. This aircraft positioned in last week (27-May) from BOH.

CWL now joins the list of TUI bases that are "open" which are:
MAN
LGW
BHX
BRS
NCL
EMA
CWL
Aircraft are also parked at EDI and DSA however no flights have yet operated.

When are TUI expected to resume flights from CWL?

I've looked back through the South Wales Aviation Group's boards (acknowledgement and my thanks to them) for June and for the first few days of this month and can find no mention of TUI flights other than Faro at the beginning of June (mentioned by Severn in the post immediately preceding this one) which was apparently then discontinued after the coloured route lists were altered and 'downgraded' Portugal.

They look to be starting some flights from CWL from Tommorow (6th July) there’s a Palma flight showing I believe it could be that one.

The flight appears to be fully booked which must be a good sign.
