"Hi Cat, we are pleased to confirm that the project to replace the travellators in the Skylink is starting in May."

I wonder how long the work is planned to take. Still, at least something is being done at last.

A couple of recent posts seem to suggest the massive security delays post Covid have gone, meaning a 5am arrival at T1 for a 6-25 departure doesn’t seem mad when travelling hand baggage only. Any opinions?

Having recently over the last few months monitored the security waiting times on the airport’s website across all 3 terminals at random times, it seems to me that the first wave of passengers between 4am-6am the average queuing time is 15-30 mins which I personally think is very reasonable for the amount of first wave departures.
With hand luggage only I would personally feel very comfortable with arriving at 5am for a 6.25am departure, normally boarding would begin around 5.45am

Visiting level 13 of T1 yesterday imagine my surprise when I discovered the airbridge on stand 22 has been painted in what looks like a bright Greek white! Whether this is a one off or there are plans to do the same for all pier C airbridge’s remains to be seen, but they are in a bad state regardless if T1 is closing in 2025.

There were fun n' games in Terminal 3 this morning following a power cut. Took a little while for it to be resorted with a few lengthy delays

Is the train connections to Manchester Airport reliable?
I'm thinking of doing a trip too Amsterdam and Manchester has come out as the cheapest option but i was also thinking about not taking the car and use the train instead specifically the Transpennine Express from Leeds too Manchester Airport. Does anyone know if that service is reliable? Or would the car be the better option?

It actually exists now which is an improvement since for quite a few months virtually every tpe train to the airport was cancelled. Tpe trains early or late in the day are still also more likely to be cancelled. Also check your dates, there are specific days when there is no through service to Leeds due to the upgrade work on the route around Huddersfield. On some days the only way across is a train to Piccadilly, then walk to Victoria, and pick up a train to Leeds from there.

Car is preferable atm tbh.

The date I'm thinking of going there is direct options available on those days at the moment but who knows what it'll be like closer to the date.
I think I'll start looking at car park prices and brave the M62!

You can also use the Metrolink tram between these two stations - much quicker and easier. Also included in some rail tickets, but check for this when you purchase.

True. I much prefer to walk tbh (takes about 15-20 minutes) but tram is an option.

I used to walk that each day I was at work for 30 years so know it well and how it has changed

I’ve recently listened to the new podcast, which personally I find very good and informative, listening to employees accounts of past and current stores/topics.
Long overdue in my opinion!

It was heavily hinted during one of the podcasts that T3 would be expanded and refurbished once T2 is completed.

Exciting news about the return of a chandelier when T2 is completed.
Can’t wait to see it! :)

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
