Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Up here in the Dales we get the C130 Hercules coming over on a regular basis, sometimes in daylight but usually in an evening - first one about 8.15pm, you can nearly set a clock by it!! Often 3 or 4 of them will come over in the space of an evening at not much higher than tree top level usually heading south....then they come back about 2/3am heading north. Somebody once told me it is a supply run from RAF Leuchars in Fife to Brize Norton. Someone on here may be able to confirm or deny that?? Always good to hear them passing - almost reassuring!!

Did anybody see that large four-engined aircraft flying very low and loud over Leeds city centre on Saturday around 10.30am? It was heading in the direction of the airport. Looked like a military plane. It got everybody looking upwards.

It was C17 ZZ172 operating From RAF Brize Norton as flight RRR6611

It was due to land here at Leeds but after holding overhead for a while he made 1 approach and then decided to divert to Doncaster due to crosswind limits.

What made it more interesting is that while he was in the hold a Ryanair B737-800 and KLM Fokker 70 both landed. This RAF C17 Crew could possibly be good candidates as future Thomson Airways recruits doing things like that. Stranger things have happened.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Heather, The aircraft flying round on Monday my have been the calibrator.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Oh thanks ls27. It did sound like that sort of thing, although I haven't heard them doing it so late at night before. As for the C17 diverting, perhaps the design of the aircraft makes it more susceptible to cross winds? It is a big thing isn't it, with unusually sloping wings and a quite slim tail fin? The wind was very gusty - in fact it ruined the match at Elland Road as a spectacle for much of the game (despite us winning 4-0), and, even worse, it made a right old mess of my hair!!

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Yes I saw it from virtually beneath it whist I was in the terminal waiting for the delayed flight to Treviso- it looked rather large.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

There was an Air Southwest charter today (SZ9009) from LBA to SOU. This was Leeds United FC travelling down to Portsmouth for tomorrow's match. There is no return flight showing at present, although it may be that they simply haven't put it in 'the system' yet. When they do, it is likely to be in on Saturday evening between 8pm and 9.30pm

She is currently parked on the main apron,

So go get you photo's now before its too late as she 's going to be pulled over to the southside and entering multiflight hanger shortly for her fit-out before heading back to Manchester in February.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Looks like it's in stand 15 so pretty impossible to get a decent picture unless airside!

It was a in the distance and was probably over east yorkshire towards the east coast. Hard to tell how far away it was but it did 2 clockwise circles and then an anti clockwise orbit

And the large aircraft you most likley saw North East of Leeds doing circles will have been RAF Waddington based ZH106 Boeing E-3A Sentry AEW.1 (707-300)

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

There has been a lot of military activity high above the east coast this last week.

Thanks for the info! Are you 100% sure? How do you know/where do you get info from? It was a fair distance away but only looked like 2 engine trail rather than 4. I did see a similar arc trail last week but did not actually see the aircraft performing them.

I got the info off sbs1 box. He ZH106 (Boeing E-3A Sentry AEW.1) was operating earlier today as "NATO31" Hope that helps. After a bit off double checking it also ties up on the libhomeradar radar site as well.

As ever it’s not 100% certain. So if someone else on here can provide diffrent details please share with us all this information.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Dose anyone know if Jet2 are running weekend charters out of Dublin again this winter season?

Just wondered why Boeing 737-300 G-CELK positioned in empty from there earlier this afternoon as LS15P.

I do believe they are. User 'LBIA' maybe able to confirm.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Yeah we do have a weekend ski charter series but I'm not sure why it positioned out, as it did today's LBA-TFS-LBA, so must have either been taking crew or parts out to Dublin. I noticed today it was looking very clean and shiny and missing 'Jet2Edinburgh' off the most so maybe maintenance.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Thomson Airways, Boeing 767-300, G-OBYG is currently sat on the deck at LBA. She has just arrived inbound on the TOM797 service from Bridgetown-Barbados with P&O Cruise passengers.

She is due to position out in a bit to Manchester as TOM797F

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
