In fairness, as amazing as the Load Factors have been, i would be shocked for any new route to upgrade within less than 6 months from a launch. However, based on the LF below, i think its clear a case of when and not if.
  • Jul: 92.0%
  • Aug: 96.2%
  • Sep: 90.0%
  • Oct: 95.0%
  • Nov: 96.7%* (Forecasted running total)
Granted, its not only about LF but also yields, but if QR are not making money on those LF then BHX has no hope! Assuming dynamic pricing is applied to these flights, these loads would suggest some pretty high fares being applied.

Over the course of the next week (15th-22nd Nov), the cheapest RTN Fare between BHX-DOH in economy ranges from £924 to an eye watering £3,914. From MAN, for the same week the fares range from £814 to just £1,390. Money is defo therefore being made on the BHX-DOH route.

The question when the route will expand and in what form. As posted above, the all immediate deliveries are committed to this years crop of 10 new routes and 14 re-instated routes (for which we were one!). I suspect additional rotations would be the preference for QR, maybe initially going 10x weekly and onto 2x daily, the first step of which i would expect ahead of next summer season. that said, immediately, there could be some upgrades if they have their aircraft to substitute, but thats a big but!

based on the above, its been a stellar restart to the route, especially up against the EK 2x daily route and SV 3x weekly route, excited to see what comes of it!

Qatar are always changing aircraft on routes, from when clocks changed MAN lunchtime was meant to be
an A350X but is nearly always a B773 again so I guess if/when larger aircraft needed it will happen and maybe not when you expect it.

Fantastic LF for Qatar and the big surprise for me is how well Saudia have also done.

Erm.Are the ATC tower aware of Qatars landing gear not in when taking off.Watching airport action it hasn’t closed it’s landing gear
I'm sure that the Qatar flight crew will be fully aware of the configuration of their aircraft. As @Karl C says, it is most likely to allow the brakes to cool. The flight has continued on it's planned routing and is currently at FL410 and 540 kts. It would not be there if the undercarriage was still extended.

Not saying its the problem or I know what the problem is, but a possibility:

MEL 32-45-03
Nose Gear Spin Brake
(O) May be inoperative or missing provided gear remains down for 2 minutes before retraction after takeoff.
NOTE: In the event of engine failure after V1, retract landing gear after takeoff.

Brake temp MEL doesn't require gear down after take off
32-46-01
Brake Temperature Monitor System (BTMS)
May be inoperative provided AFM Maximum Quick Turnaround Weight limitations are observed.
NOTE: Any portion of the system which operates normally may be used.

Better get that tug ordered from LHR, Loooool or was it the bar that connects to the plane, he he he he he
The issue previously was the the tow/push back bar. Qatar solved the problem themselves with the A350 bringing one with it.

No expense spared at BHX.

Expansion would be with B789, possibly A359, not B77W. The latter are less common in UK since the start of the summer timetable. They were going up to twice daily to MAN but this has changed to B789 and A35X. Forget about A330s in UK.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
