Re the discussion about Sentinel, I have no doubt they provide a good service but in my opinion we should be supporting the airport where possible. Sentinel are basically getting money for old rope. Unlike the airport, the gravel field from which they operate requires no upkeep whatsoever unlike the operations of the airport. You might well think you are protecting your pocket but could it be at the expense of other services or facilities that might benefit you at the airport?
agreed, i often find viking / sentinel are the same price, would rather keep the revenue streams in the airport. as ive said ive used viking in the past and not had one issue with them.

Every time I go past Viking I see the 'Closed' signs, yet the car park seems to be almost full. Seems strange.

The Viking Car Park is still closed, but it's packed with cars, many if which are of the expensive variety. Lots of premium brand cars and SUVs that dont seem to go anywhere.

Does anyone know if the airport have leased off this car park for vehicle storage or something similar? It certainly looks that way.

Picked my daughter and friend up from LBA yesterday. Used the free car park (tight Yorkshireman alert!) which was heaving at around 14.30. Normally you take a ticket on entering and use it on exiting, but this time the ticket machines were covered with bin liners and the entry barrier raised automatically. I was expecting the barrier to raise automatically on exit but it didn’t so had to press the button to speak to someone. After a few questions as to where I’d parked and for how long I was released back into the wild. Does anyone know how your vehicle is identified when the ticket machines are out of use? Number plate cameras perhaps that failed to recognise my car on exit?

One thing I have noticed about the parking/LBA website is that when booking and they ask you to select the carrier you are flying with, it now only lists Jet2, Ryanair and Wizz.. this isn't very representative of the airlines that operate from the airport, surely this is a glitch that hasn't been picked up?

You heard it here first! Just received this morning from LBA. I've noted other airports increasing their drop off charges too - Belfast City being one. As far as I'm concerned, it's no pain, no gain. There's a £80m terminal development to pay for and there's still a free parking option that many airports dont offer. And for now at least, it's free for electric cars.

Let the moaning begin!

Dear ACC Member

I write to notify you in advance of some changes that are taking place to the airport’s Pick Up & Drop Off from Wednesday 22nd March 2023

Pick Up & Drop Off tariffs for cars will be increasing by £1 for stays up to 20 minutes and £2 for stays between 20 – 30 minutes. Stays between 30-60 minutes and each subsequent hour after will increase by £3. Tariffs for minibuses and coaches will also increase at a similar level to cars

The tariffs for our other car parking, such as Long Stay, remain unchanged.

It has been two-years since we last updated our Pick Up & Drop Off tariffs and we have made this change in response to industry wide operational cost pressures. The increase brings LBA’s tariffs in-line with other regional airports and we will continue to provide one of the most generous free car parking offers of any UK airport with our One Hour Free Zone.

The Pick Up & Drop Off area will remain free to electric cars for up to 1 hour to help drive the airports sustainability ambitions.

The changes are being communicated to passengers through updated signage and our website

Another slanted anti LBA, this time parking article......

So this numpty uses an App to find the cheapest Meet and Greet service. This despite warnings from just about every other airport in the land. The clue is when its got the word `Saver` in it..Finds out it get `parked` somewhere in Bradford...Ye Gods I ask you, then wonders why it all went wrong...The Airport service is backed by LBA and parked on the estate but isnt cheap. There is Sentinal etc but no it slates LBA as somehow being complicit in this when they are not........
Makes my blood boil....

The official LBA meet & greet is fabulous. They park your car in the Viking car park if they are busy…use it everytime.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
