And from what I just heard, another one has followed it as it flew overhead Cookridge (it sounded quite low and heavy too) at around 1420. Talking of flights passing overhead, yesterday morning provided a superb view of the Emirates 777 heading up to NCL. It was very low considering it had around 100 miles still to run - in fact when I first saw it heading towards me from the direction of Leeds, I thought it was a Jet2 757 going into the overhead, but then the give-away red logo on the underside told me otherwise. I could see every detail with binoculars. Lovely aircraft when seen from below on a clear day. If only it was heading to us instead!!

See my previous message, it was UR-CKL

Lear Jet 45 LX-LAA(Lion King 7 Ambulance) entering the hold at LBA AT 11000' awaiting arrival on runway 14.
14 RVR - 600metres, 32 RVR- 500metres
3 aircraft ahead, opting for 32, but he is CAT1 so needs 15.

There's a large, heavy propliner flying overhead as I type this. Probably another Antonov.

I saw a large airliner flying more or less overhead LBA at about 1.40 pm today. Heading southeast at about FL100. Probably Doncaster-bound. Likely identity, anyone ?

At exactly that time 777 A6-EBJ flew diretly over LBA, outbound from Newcastle to Dubai.
He was however climbing out of 24000' at the time

Thankyou. Clearly my altitude judgement is poor. The 777 is a big aeroplane, mind.

I have seen the Emirates 777 overhead LBA, although heading up to NCL, and it looked very big indeed. So much so that as I saw it approaching, I thought at first it was a Jet2 757 heading up towards the NW ready for turning on to a runway 14 arrival. It was only as it got closer I could see it was a 777 and the Emirates red logo on the underside gave it away somewhat. I was surprised at how big it was considering that it must still have been at a reasonable height with close to 100 miles still to run to NCL.

I'll be stood right next to the the Emirates 777 on the ramp at NCL this Wednesday. I'm sure I'll be able to get some close-up photos (fingers X'd).

It's immensely impressive and can only hope aircraft and airlines of this stature visit LBA in the not too distant future.

A rumble over the LBA at 2120 turns out to be USAF C-130J 11-5745 based at Little Rock, heading North at 28000'
Not visible however in the snowy murky conditions

Chinook ZK550(Vortex 397) is just entering the zone to the North, routing 1 mile East of the airfield and then heading South
The thud of the rotar clearly audible as I type this.

Did an Antonov pass east abeam LBA at about 3.10 pm ? I was at Almscliff Crag and I saw and heard a large prop heading north but I couldn't identify it.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
