I'm just wondering if Ridgeback is pulling a double bluff because CB and CD are the only ex BMI to have any slack in their Sunday morning schedule which would suggest it will be one of them. They should both be knocking about at LHR and won't be required until approx midday.

As LUFC Jonno has gone for CB, I am going to go for G-DBCD.

BCB & BCD are the only T1 319's that have been painted in Dove livery. The inaugural will be in Chatham livery barring late changes which makes these 2 unlikely.

Are you sure they can use Autoland on 32? In any case when it's foggy wind tends to be from the south, favouring the use of 14. Plus BA are somewhat cautious and could be jumpy about low viz or high winds initially.

I can assure you "jumpy" people do not make it to the flight deck !
If the crosswind is within limits or the viz is acceptable subject to aircraft performance they will make an approach.

Fingers crossed the local media will make a big deal of BA's return on 9th December (or perhaps the day after, as 9th is a Sunday). The more people who know the service exists, the more likely they will think to use it when needing to book travel (add into that corporate business accounts too). Look North were very good with their coverage when BA's return was announced a few months back and fully hope they make a big deal of it in a weeks time (story promoting it good for business, local economy, etc). I seem to remember Calendar news were much less interested, but I wasn't too surprised as I've felt for a long time their local news coverage comes across as if they can hardly be bothered, rather than genuinely being interested in what's going on (personal opinion, don't flame me!).

I didn't see any of the local press at the time the route was announced, but as someone who used to regularly read the T&A, I would like to think they will make mention of the commencement.

I'm already booked on two return trips using the service next year, custom I would without doubt have taken elsewhere had it not been for BA coming to LBA.

Calendar were dismal for a local news station whereas BBC I thought were outstanding.

This route is such a good news story for our region and BA are very committed to giving it every chance of success. We just need people to support it now and let's hope they do.
The more media coverage it gets the better. I believe most of the media coverage is centred on Monday as its obviously a better day for TV exposure.

Sunday however is the inaugural and I personally think it will be a great moment to see a BA scheduled shuttle service arrive at LBA from LHR. The airport is going from strength to strength and you can do a great deal direct from LBA now but this adds a new dimension and enhances the profile of our region considerably imho.

PS the inaugural wont be on G-DBCG either ;-)

Whilst I agree BA re-launching at LBA could have been covered more, in reality this is simply unachievable for Calendar News as the structure of and subsequent output of their broadcasting compared to BBC Look North (Yorkshire variant) differs greatly.

You both fail to take into account whilst BBC Look North covers Yorkshire (broadcast from Leeds) their East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire obligations are covered by separate BBC Look North programming (broadcast from Queen’s Court, Queens Garden’s, Hull). Therefore BBC Look North (broadcast from Leeds) running orders are more accommodating for such a news story with Lincolnshire stories often covered solely by their sister broadcaster. Calendar News on the other hand simply hasn’t this luxury as they have a larger geographical area to cover (the same area as two BBC regional news productions!!!) thus space in the running order is sparser than BBC Look North (broadcast from Leeds) and they cannot go into such a news story local to the Leeds/Bradford area in as much detail. As an example if they did they would potentially drop a Lincolnshire news story that warrants greater coverage (a mugging or cancer patient’s recovery e.c.t.) and there would be audience uproar.

JakeS - even so, an in-depth 4-5 minute article by BBC Look North, with interviews, detailed explanation of how this could benefit the Yorkshire economy (inbound visitors as well as outbound, with potential increased trade for hotels, restaurants, shops, etc) and transport correspondent on location, didn't seem to balance well against what was a 15 second throw away snippet reported by Calendar. Perhaps there were bigger stories that day in the East Yorkshire/Lincolnshire region which took priority, I'm not sure.

I just hope that come Monday 10th December the local media (TV and press/radio) get behind this story, acknowledging that Calendar coverage may not be as extensive due to a wider geographical area covered, as the new connections this provides for many companies in the region, with clients/suppliers worldwide, can only be a good thing for them. This in turn can only help in creating/maintaining jobs. I'm sure there would be a few from the Humber region that may use it too (given the choice, some may prefer BA to KLM, due to personal preference, corporate accounts or/FF Programmes, etc). In addition,there will also be leisure travellers, who traditionally tend not to be as high yielding as those flying on tickets for business, but will still help contribute to the bottom line.

The official launch for the BA service is early Monday morning. I had an email from LBA relating to it and attendees have to be at the airport by 0730. with the events starting at 0800 and finished by 0930. I would like to have attended but work makes it impossible especially as there is the consultative meeting coming up later that week which also requires me to take time ofof work.

So the TV people will have to be up early for this one, but I am sure it will get good coverage at least from the BBC. In my view, there will be few stories more deserving of coverage than the return of BA to LBA after an absence of 32 years.

As "Boy" Gration places his elbows in one of my watering holes, will have to give him a nudge.
He know doubt did the coverage when B A made the last flight.
