That's great news on the July figures. Here's what posted back in January after the monthly figures for all of 2013 were made available;

will be interesting to see what the figures are for this January compared to January 2013. Anything over 9300 would be an increase in excess of 20% year on year. If that were to continue through the year we could be looking at over 12000 per month later in the year infact 20% on to September's figure would be in excess of 14,000. Here's hoping....'

The CAA stats for July are now out and the LBA-LHR shuttle carried 12,448, up 25% from last July. Is that a monthly record for the BA service ?

Yeap I can confirm that it sure is the highest monthly figure for BA on the LBA-LHR route so far, Well after 20 months of operation that is!

Thanks lbaspotter. When you see it like that, it shows how the momentum is building up. It is becoming more established as each month passes. It will be nice to see it get over the 15,000 mark, but that might be a more realistic milestone for next year.

Some excellent loads there LBAspotter which is very encouraging reading. What you seem to forget though is the aircraft could by flying with a 100% load factor yet it could still be suffering from low yield. Obviously only British Airways are privy to that information so we will just have to hope the yield from the route is performing as well as the passenger loads.

What was the purpose of that comment? You shouldn't take what I say out of context.

I never said you were wrong in any way. My post remains unedited.

The figures you posted came straight from the CAA so there is no reason for me to question them. My post was merely pointing out that we still don't know if the route is or isn't a slot retainer because we don't know how well the yield is performing. I want the route to be a success just like everybody else.

Surely it is not only the yield on this route, but the additional onward business it creates.
Everyone of my B A LBA to LHR has been one sector of an extended journey.
Must be working for BA, because as a thank you they have offered me a free LBA to LHR sector if I book an onward flight within the next 6 months period, doing this they must see LBA as a feeder hub and not just a stand alone profit centre.
I am sure this recent additional traffic has been like me in June, flying free from Leeds, but giving BA a good profit overall.

So Apr/May/Jun/Jul all did circa 2,000 more than last year. Massively pleasing.

On the sub-optimal slots this route has I wld suggest that the people have backed it in the last 12 months very well indeed.

Very few really bad loads these days although the early north on a weekend is a positioner as is the late south every day so for heavens sake BA do the obvious thing and nightstop it. Even GLA has its earliest northbound at 0955 and yet we have a 0720 which is dead. Doesn't help.

So the rail fares are going up yet again. As its just been announced that regulated rail fares to increase by 3.5% in 2015

Surely this will have a negative impact on the train services as people will look at the alternatives, eg flying British Airways to London Heathrow from Leeds/Bradford. I noticed that the baseline fare now given is around £50 (one-way)

I'm flying from LBA down to LHR on Sunday mornings BA1341 for first time. So I'll post pax numbers afterwards along with my LBA terminal/experience. Hopefully they'll be some spare seats in the departure lounge.

BA planning some non rev 787 flying in September for pilot training purposes.

I believe that the machine will be based at NCL but is planning to do short sectors to LBA. It won't land but will do approaches and Go Arounds.

Will probably be the nearest a 787 will get to LBA for a while so I thought those interested may want to head up and watch. If anyone is interested I will try find some timings out.

I suppose there is always a chance one may decide to land!

A/C to be based in NCL and will operate to EDI/LBA but not expected to land at either. Still weather dependent as they don't want it all IMC which LBA currently is unlike yesterday.
