Passengers numbers were 13,109 in June, a 13.08% increase from the June 2014 figure which was 11,593.

I see British Airways have a Kids fly for free offer on flights between Leeds/Bradford and London Heathrow.

https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/offers/flights/kids-fly-for-free

Are passenger numbers dropping off? I only ask this due to the nature of this offer over the school holidays and also noticing that there has been a number of flights cancelled recently...

Isn't it the case that the BA flight does tend to go quieter during the summer holiday season due to a notable downturn in business flying during this period? I seem to recall it has in the past. Although there will be some additional leisure traffic, in the past this hasn't been sufficient to replace the business traffic lost. I am not sure if that has had anything to do with the cancelled flights though. That seems to happen for various reasons, and particularly when things are not going to plan at LHR.

Passneger figures below (I haven't included December 2012 when it started) and % figures are the increase on teh same month of the previous year.

2013
January 7,763
February 9,326
March 9,996
April 9,729
May 9,259
June 9,738
July 9,947
August 10,058
September 11,893
October 11,381
November 10,187
December 9,440 69.18%

2014
January 8,642 11.32%
February 9,305 -0.23%
March 9,269 -7.27%
April 11,673 19.98%
May 11,354 22.63%
June 11,593 19.05%
July 12,448 25.14%
August 11,905 18.36%
September 13,696 15.16%
October 11,617 2.07%
November 10,298 1.09%
December 10,525 11.49%

2015
January 9,534 10.32%
February 10,965 17.84%
March 10,984 18.50%
April 13,453 15.25%
May 12,202 7.47%
June 13,109 13.08%

So Summer doesn't seem to see much if any drop-off in numbers.

I imagine the offer will only be applicable to the quietest flight of the day such as the evening southbound will it?

Also, does it apply to only LBA-LHR sector and not to onward destinations in which case it would be an attractive incentive to use BA compared to KLM via AMS for families with small children

Looking at the Terms and Conditions it looks like the offer applies for direct flights between Leeds & London Heathrow only. See below quote
"9. The promotion applies only to direct, one way or return flights between London Heathrow (LHR) and Leeds Bradford (LBA) only".

Those interested in these things may like to know that a sharklet equipped 320 G-EUYY is down to operate the middle shuttle today BA1342/3

Not sure if LBA has see a BA 'sharkletted' 320 before?

Don't think so Ridgeback. Is that due to a high booked load or is it an aircraft shortage that has resulted in the A320? On a separate note I notice that Leeds, the City Region and LBA are all being marketed at Heathrow for the next 6 weeks within Terminal 5. Free of charge too. Seems like a good move and can only improve things further.

Hi Heather

Both flights were nice and busy but not to the extent that it required the equipment upgrade. Must have just suited the a/c planners to send it today

I'm aware of the LHR sponsored marketing and it looks terrific all over T5!

Regards

I was down at LHR today and I saw him landing :good:

I hear the recent last minute flight cancellations and the Airbus A320's appearing on the Heathrow shuttle is not due to high passengers loads but more due to the fact British Airways has a shortage of flight crews because they are been over worked this summer..

Anyone confirm if their is any truth to this?

Yes, it seems to be true based on what I have heard from BA staff. Lack of flight crew and cabin crew is making it difficult to run the full schedule as normal. Some of the last minute cancellations have been weather (at LHR) related, but I am sure shortage of crew is having an effect as well.

Couldn't possibly comment....

I would refrain from reporting something like that as a"fact" particularly if you don't have the facts.

BA1341 to LHR was busy this morning. I counted approx 120 pax. Although we were 30 minutes late departing owing to the inbound service being held at LHR for offloading luggage of no shows, we flew straight in with no holding, and so were only a few minutes later than scheduled. Now in T5 awaiting connection to ARL.

Ba1344/1345 for next Tuesday evening has been changed to a a320 and one of the few with sharklets fitted.

I don't think lack of flight crew per say would be causing the swaps from a319 to a320 since I beleive it is one type rating which covers all the a319/320/321 family, so if the flight crew can fly an a320 they could have equally flown an a319.

I counted just over 100 pax on last nights flight from LHR. The service was over 30 mins late owing to a delay inbound to LHR from Oslo. It's the first time I haven't used the airbridge on that service, so it was novel to see the business suits struggling down the windy steps and ramming on to the bus. At least we didn't have to trek through the long bus shelter like the Ryanair punters.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
