I like the newish livery. The hard product on the A380 is amazing. Lucky enough to fly in their First Apartments...... certainly has the wow factor

Aircraft on finals to BHX. The first one to me is the best, the way the Emirates bursts through the clouds. Note the 'streamers' from the outboard tips of the flaps. I've heard some anti-aviation people claim that this is fuel being dumped. This is totally untrue, illegal (except in the case of an extreme emergency) and would be very expensive to the airline (do these people drain their cars fuel tank every time they reach their destination?). What we are seeing, is a vortex of low pressure created by the airflow. The low pressure causes a drop in temperature within the vortex, meaning that the air cannot hold as much water vapour. The result being that the water vapour in the vortex, condenses out into a fog.

As I understand it, fuel dumping over land is only permitted under extreme predjudice, i.e. if lives depend upon it. Aviation spirit is highly volatile and toxic and even though it evaporates in the atmospere, some may hit the surface. If over water, it dissolves.

I eagerly awaiting my marks from Mr. Farnell

I'll give you a B+. The only point I'd make, is that Jet fuel will not dissolve in water, as it's an oil based product. However, it's likely to be very well dispersed by the time it reaches the sea, so unlikely to create a slick.

I accept a B+ from you Sir. I was forgetting that water & oil does not mix. I was thinking of the spirit as in ethanol or alcohol and not the base compounds. I strive to improve. My discipline, Law, is clearly different from the natural sciences.

Very sad about Flybe. I wonder if any current staff were there when they first went under.
Here is a shot just after the first time, april 2020. note the empty bhx car park due covid lockdown.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
