Anyway, good to see the third flight finally added (y)

Interesting timings - almost identical to the new Pegasus flights to SAW which operate Tue, Thurs & Sat! Four flights a day to Istanbul on those days. I remember the days when TK first launched they struggled with five weekly on A319s!

The market of THY and PGT is quite different so they live together OK, I was quite worried when PGT started up our way that they might struggle but now they are going to be SAW upto 3 daily plus AYT and Izmir and look how they have done at STN so I wouldn`t worry they can look after themselves. It doesnt seem long since if you wanted to see Turkish airliners you had to AMS or anywhere in Germany

You have to think about stopover flights.During COVID they suspended Turkmenistan and Pakistan flights. There must be a massive demand for them flights.21 weekly flights from both airports altogether shows proof that it’s stopover flights

Flights to Turkmenistan were for transfers to ATQ, not because of point to point traffic BHX-ASB. PGT does not fly there and in Pakistan they fly only to Karachi. Demand for UK-Karachi flights is not great, with VFR passengers looking to travel from BHX to Islamabad. Do not underestimate the number of tourists flying from UK for holidays in Istanbul.

TURKISH AIRLINES TO INCREASE FROM 14 ISTANBUL FLIGHTS A WEEK TO 18

Turkish Airlines will offer Birmingham Airport (BHX) customers 18 flights a week to Istanbul (IST) from summer 2024, it was confirmed today.

Türkiye’s flag carrier currently serves this route twice a day (14 times a week). From June next year it will increase frequency to three times a day on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays while continuing its twice daily services on other days of the week.

Eren Ozturk Sales Manager from Turkish Airlines, said: “Customer demand from BHX to Istanbul is strong and growing stronger, so we’re pleased to be able to meet this demand with additional flights.”

Tom Screen, aviation director, added: “The popularity of Türkiye as a holiday destination continues to grow and we are seeing this strongly reflected in our customer number forecasts. More and more customers are also stopping in Istanbul before flying onwards to destinations on Turkish Airlines’ vast global network.”

In previous years, Turkish Airlines has flown twice daily to Istanbul in the summer before reducing to 10 a week in the winter months as demand dropped off.

This year, for the first time, it is maintaining its twice-daily service through the winter due to increased demand.

Forecasts of even greater demand next year have prompted the airline to increase summer frequency to 18 services a week.

Plus of course using A321 is more seats than 737 … only a few but still more

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?
