I think it's best to leave this one here.

Very pleased to see their continual expansion :good:

Great news to see Turkish expand to x 2 daily.

Maybe with Air India going daily last year and the "rumour" of Qatar starting BHX, maybe put them off going double daily at BHX but then again TK are big enough to not be scared of Air India so who knows.

Not BHX specific but Turkish have teamed up with Visit Britain for a marketing campaign to promote the UK as a tourist destination and in particular Turkish Airlines five UK gateways, of which BHX is one.

Hopefully it may boost the loads a little :good:

VisitBritain and Turkish Airlines have announced a new global marketing partnership to attract more international visitors to Britain, with a focus across the airline’s five regional including Birmingham.

More competition to come on the BHX-XXX-India route.

To diversify and strengthen its presence in the India market, Turkish Airlines, is looking at adding minimum six new gateways in India which includes Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Amritsar. Presently, the airline is operating one daily flight into Delhi and Mumbai and is planning to increase this to double daily.

its an obvious growth area if Turkish are to compete with the likes of the ME3 which i believe is the wider strategy?

Turkish have finally confirmed that the BHX flights will go 14 weekly from 27th March.

Took them a while but we got there!

Great news, I knew the news was from a good source. It doesn't look like the massive increase in capacity to ME and connections have put them off :drinks:
Happy new year.

Schedule means that basically every day the TK1968/69 arrives 0940 and departs 1040, with the TK1969/70 arriving 1600 and departing 1700 every day from May 30th (and not 27th March as I previously mentioned).

Next stop, the 3rd daily night flight?

The flight is thirteen times a week initially with second Wednesday flight added on 30th March, the second Tuesday flight commences on Tuesday 31st of May 2015. Considering the slow start it had numbers wise and competition at Birmingham going East, Turkish have quickly grown this route. Does anyone remember how long it has been operating?

I believe they started in 2009?

I have a feeling they were one of the the first new airlines to arrive after Mr K took over?

With time ticking on I wondered if they may have put it on hold for 12 months or so given recent events, glad to see they're still fighting :)

Hopefully it won't be too long before one, or both, flights are upgraded to permanent A321's.

Thanks thunderchild, so seven years this month. I remember poor loads being reported initially and many forecasting that the service wouldn't continue on other forums. So at least they have stuck by Birmingham.

Great news about Turkish, especially as they are building the new airport in Istanbul which is due to open in a couple of years. Due to capacity at Istanbul i think at the moment that they cannot compete like for like with EK or QR but this will all change when the new airport opens. Nice one Turkish and Happy New Year :drinks

It also goes to show, dont always believe the doom mongers on these forums. It goes to show that with a bit of hard work and effort from both Airport, Airline and tourist boards that a route can work.

American Airlines and Aegean, please take note. ;)

I thought that was the plan anyway, 13x weekly from March then 14x weekly from May?

I think Daza posted the schedule.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
