There was a rumour about 4 new stands (one being A388 size) to be built by the grass bund East of the Fire Station.

Ian

Am I right in thinking that stands were due to be created here as part of the 1997-2007 master plan? I seem to remember that they were cancelled due to 9/11? I remember some digging in the area around that time.

Here is to a very successful, safe, healthy but extremely exciting 2016. :hatsoff: :drinks:

Hi to everyone on the forum, yes I can only 2nd what brummiegem and ray have said, it's has been quite a remarkable year at Birmingham airport, with all the new carriers starting this year 2015 and now of course even more new carriers for next year, let's just hope that Birmingham goes from strength to strength, plus even more carriers for next year 2016 and so on, so if only 40% from the west midlands area on using their own airport, so what we want to see next year 2016 and 2017 is that percentage going up to 50,60 or even 70% or even 80%...let's wait and see...happy new year to everyone... Happy New Year

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

I have really enjoyed reading all the BHX posts since joining the group, especially those from Ray & Neil.

I hope I have contributed to what is a great forum.

What a great year 2016 looks set to be. It feels great to talk about my favourite pastime with so many fantastic folks. Happy New Year everyone :drinks:

Good Evening All,

Been following this forum for a while. About time I properly joined. Fly out of BHX quite a bit and as with most of the guys who contribute to this site, love all things BHX.
Have a few flights already booked so far from Brum, so will post trip reports, loads etc when I can.

Happy New Year to all of you.....2016 will be a fantastic year for our local airport.

Itching to try out Qatar, however EK'S A380 may win out for my flights to BKK.
I did try out Etihad's A380 in September (the fare from LHR in F was unbeatable) and it was very good on service and comfort, but lousy on timekeeping. I'm hoping BHX and EK, with such a high density model, can manage good timekeeping.

Hope you're not all nursing hangovers like myself.

All the best

Karl

im humbled, thank you so much!

Its great to see a couple of new members join our group on the first day of 2016. This is great to see and just goes to show that BHX is really becoming an interesting airport to discuss and to visit.

Over the coming few days i will be booking my summer holiday to Gran Canaria for September and at the moment Norweigan Air Shuttle are coming out the cheapest, Ryanair is next and Monarch the most expensive. I will keep you updated on my progress over the next few days. Feeling Excited 😀

I'm assuming that the proposed Sleep Box hotel pods are not going ahead now? They were due to open last spring and I can't find any reference to BHX on their website.

Hopefully we should see some movement on the new Radisson Blu in the coming months, I've noticed that area of the car park is now clear of all vehicles.

Im looking forward to this one going up, this on its own is a major development for the airport alone. And we need more hotels as the airport gets busier and busier for passengers and air crews to stay over. Looks a funky kind of building.

Hi there ray and all, like Ian quoted early, about his contribution to the forum last, I hope that my contribution has also helped as well, and hope again this year as much as I can, to keep and make this forum what it means...andyc

With ResortsWorld now fully open, there should be more demand, not just airport traffic, so there's a greater chance of success.

Very much so Andrew, everyone's contributions are welcome and make this forum what it is. It's also great to see that we're still getting new members posting

I've been to Resorts World a couple of times now and on both occasions I was surprised at how busy it was. Having the car parking at £1 for 0-3 hours must help matters, last time I came out the overflow car park was filling up nicely.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
