Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Anybody assist as to the reason the "early" AMS was cancelled today. It so rarely happens these days!

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

This mornings early KLM78E to Amsterdam did operate as normal. As it was operated by Fokker 70, PH-KZL this morning after it had night-stopped. See the following link for flightradar24 playback = http://www.flightradar24.com/#!/2011-08-26/06:02/KLM78E

The mid morning KLM1545/1546 rotation was operated by Fokker 100, PH-OFP while the Lunchtime KLM67N/68K rotation was operated by Fokker 70, PH-KZP

The afternoon. KLM1549/1550 rotations has not been operating for the last 4 weeks due to the School Holidays, but it is due recommence from Monday, September 5th.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Bhowani, I do understand why you may be confused as this morning on the Leeds/Bradford it did say that the flight was Cancelled. I think this was just a computing error with the Airports 'Airport2020' system that they use. As Lbaspotter has shown, the flight, according to FlightRadar operated as normal.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

It really was cancelled due to a 'technical fault' half way through boarding. The passengers were sent back to check in to rebook onto another flight. In the mean time the aircraft departed empty to Amsterdam. In true style, Philip Meeson Jet2 CEO was in the terminal so spent a good while chatting to the passengers queuing for the servisair ticket desk, he was casually slipping into conversation that the Jet2 Amsterdam pushed back ten minutes early and seats on our 16.30 flight were selling out fast... What a legend!

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

It's surprising how many people do not know about the Jet2 LBA - AMS service, many of my Dutch and German students just got to the KLM website without even thinking about Jet2 - until of course I remind them!

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

So how come the aircraft was fit to fly to AMS empty, but not fit to carry the passengers? Surely it was either fit to fly or it wasn't, unless the technical fault was that the loos were all blocked up??

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

I'm sure theres something in the rule book that allows flights that don't meet the Mininmum equipment list to be operated for maintenance purposes, in this case back to the KLM hanger.

Those on the cancelled flight will (or at least should) be sorted out by KLM anyway, so the fact that seats on the 16.30 are selling fast isn't that useful to the passenger.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Looks like the lunchtime flight Leeds - Amsterdam flights (KL1547/8) are being dropped from next month (I guess the winter timetable).

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

We can of course hope for bigger aircraft on the remaining 3 daily rotations. It's about time we saw more of the ERJ's.

If your still interested or don't know, it was a fault with the exit row seat/s. It was therefore deemed unserviceable for transporting of passengers.

One of the ERJ's operated in on Wednesday.

Yeah your right, it be good to see more of the ERJ as well as the F70's it's a shame they cant position one of the ERJ to do the last flight from AMS - LBA position in for the night then operate LBA - AMS first thing in the morning, whilst all others schedules operated by F70's.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Hi

This morning while looking on the Yorkshire Post newspaper website there was an interesting piece about KLM's services to Amsterdam out of both Leeds and Humberside. One of there boss's have visited Leeds over the past couple off days by looks off things.

If i remember correctly the Leeds-Amsterdam service will most likely go back to 4x daily Fokker 70 flights next summer again. Meanwhile load factors on the route were up by about 5% or 6% with which they are very happy with. If demand for the route went even further up they said they would look in to putting a bigger aircraft onto the route.

But I don't think there is any chance of a Air France connecting service to Paris any time soon though. I maybe wrong...

I'll have a dig around to see if I can find it on-line so to post a link later. That's unless anyone else knows where to find it before me off course.

[textarea]Increase in flights hailed success by airline

AIR France-KLM yesterday revealed that it was achieving an average load factor of 80 per cent on its flights from Leeds-Bradford airport, despite the economic problems caused by the crisis in the eurozone.

Henri Hourcade, the general manager for UK & Ireland at Air France-KLM, said the company’s performance had been stable in October, although he warned that a period of uncertainty was lying ahead.

Last week, Air France-KLM pledged to cut costs and shake up its operations after it delivered lower-than-expected quarterly profits.

However, during a trip to Leeds, Mr Hourcade was bullish about prospects at Leeds-Bradford.

He said: “This year we have increased our services from three to four daily flights to Amsterdam...which is quite unique in this period of doom and gloom. This has been a success.

“There are a certain number of businesses that are very resilient to the crisis. The growth exists, and we see traffic growing.”

Last year, 140,163 passengers used Air France-KLM’s service at Leeds-Bradford. The figure for Humberside airport, where Air France-KLM also runs a service to Amsterdam, was 117,048.

A company spokesman said load factors from Leeds-Bradford were up by five per cent compared to last year, and figures for Humberside had risen by nearly two per cent.

Mr Hourcade said many Yorkshire-based travellers were keen to fly to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol because it served a large number of long-haul destinations.

He added: “We have increased the quality of our connections. We have opened 16 new long haul routes this year. People can fly from their doorstep to the rest of the world, to China, to South America to Africa via Schiphol.

“Another increase of capacity isn’t planned now (at Leeds-Bradford airport). But if we have demand that is pushing the load factor, then yes, we will go and increase them.”[/textarea]

Sorry, It's quite a long-winded article, but I had to make it reach the last paragraph so that the 'increase' was mentioned....

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

One of the misleading points made in the article was that no KLM/AirFrance staff were based at LBA. True - but the hard workers of Cityhoppers must be a bit miffed!

Little bit of a shock to see that HUM flies well over half we do to AMS.

Ah well !

(Little bit of a shock to see that HUM flies well over half we do to AMS.)

HUM does not have Jet2 to drain extra pax.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Got it in one, WAWKRK, all international passengers from HUY have to go via AMS. If you added all the international services from LBA it would be at least 10 times greater.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Can anyone confirm that the KL1551 arrival on Wednesday night 28 12 was towed STERN FIRST onto stand owing to the wind problems?

How did they do it? !!

Bhowani

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

On that evening following the wind warning all aircraft were re positioned into wind or set on stand that way as they arrived. You are correct, the F100 was pushed onto stand facing SW. It shut down abeam stand 6 and was pushed back in a similar fashion to that of when they leave stand.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
