Transavia will be the low cost arm I understand also for Air France.Crew salaries are lower than mainline plus other cost savings.I wonder if full interlining and rewards will still apply.
I seem to remember Air Berlin being mentioned for Lufthansa.

I assume this is the case for every Cityhopper route, but it is possible to interline from HUY onto the Transavia network. This isn't exactly cheap though. I believe Transavia have a base in Paris too.

This has already started happening at Lufthansa.

Germanwings have taken over the Cologne and Stuttgart-Heathrow flights, as well as Stuttgart-Manchester flights from Lufthansa.

Announcement just gone out that due to "Operational Reasons" the Amsterdam flight is delayed... Plane's on deck - late crew?

Serious terrorists don't leave notes on planes though do they? They just get on, blow themselves up (or hijack them to fly into buildings) and take hundreds or thousands of innocent victims with them.

Notes are left on planes saying there is a bomb on board by idiotic cowardly pranksters who take pleasure in causing disruption.

How would you know what a terrorist would do Heather, We can all communicate, to speculate as to how they do things and as to why they do it. But until something happens we just don't know what there next steps will be, As it seems they are always one step ahead.
Hence that we have to watch are backs all all times, And in this case the Airline/Captain of the flight made the right call to return his aircraft back to Amsterdam ASAP and landed safely without any problems. Its now up to the Dutch Police to investigate this matter possibly with the help of the UK's Security Officials

Ps: I just hope you haven't got any inside experience or knowledge?? :whiteflag:

No, I don't and what the captain did was absolutely correct. I was just making the point that (in my view at least) a terrorist who is serious about blowing a plane up is hardly likely to leave a note saying there is a bomb on board! Doing so is likely to result in the flight turning back or not leaving, which is probably defeating the object surely. The serious terrorists (at least those that I have heard about on the news) do nothing to draw attention to themselves or their intentions, until they actually do it. The IRA may have sent messages to say they were going to detonate bombs in the past (although not on aircraft) but todays terrorists just go for maximum impact with no warning.

All terrorist threats are analysed and then coded in order of significance.
The most serious being red , green and the least significant being amber.

The KLM flight would of recieved an amber alert. Pre-warned threats usually hold the least
substance.

If this flight recieved a red alert it would not of landed at an airport that could cause enormous
fatalaties on the ground like Schipol.

There would also of been a full evacuation after landing.

The captain doesnt always have full control over what action to take ,in some cases instructions are to be adhered to from the ground.

In 1994 ,I was operating a flight JFK-LGW on a full DC-10.
Departure was around 23.30pm, a late winters night.

40 mins into the flight , a passenger told me ( after a few vodkas ) that he didnt want to return to Germany, he had an explosive in his bag.
This was reported to the capt whom then informed ATC.
We then were instructed to search the aircraft ( by now the passenger was pleading with us to accept his bad sense of humour and that it was a prank) for any suspicious items.
After the search we had to then prepare for a "controlled " evacuation , Bangor , Maine were on full alert as this was where we were heading.

After the search was complete we were mins from touch down. The temp outside was around -20, and way past midnight.

We landed safely and then had to taxi to a remote part of the airfield, the aircraft stopped almost in a farm yard. A controlled evacuation involves steps attached to every door and passengers encouraged to disembark quickly. The scene was like something from a hollywood movie. It was ink black outside and very, very cold. As the passengers started to flee across the field like apron they began dissapearing into the nearby woods,we at one point had to track them down using a mega-phone. It was like a carry on movie. To top it all , CNN were also on scene waiting at the bottom of the steps to catch a glimpse of the prankster, the FBI were also there.
The entire situation was a complete fiasco. Pre-cautions had to be taken and the man responsible charged. My gripe was that having the "movie cameras " there made people panic and what if the worst did happen after landing ? , would the resouces needed to deal with it of been able to deal with it?
The aircraft was so ar away from the main terminal, local school buses had to be called in to ferry the passengers away from he scene to the terminal.
We eventually took off at 06.00am the next morning.
Passengers on that flight included David Mellor ( MP ) and Satchi & Satchi.
The following day I remember buying a newspaper to read whilst having a coffee at a cafe.
The headlnes read " B.A flight almost brought down by hidden bomb "
Amazing how a silly comment can cause so much disruption ,money and propaganda.

Looking at Wiki the last 3 Fokker 100 aircraft are soon to leave but interestingly it also says that 5 Fokker 70 aircraft will be on the ground for a time in the winter. There does not appear to be any significant network reduction so I imagine with weather and general winter operating logistics we could see the Embraer making an appearance over the coming months. They wont be able to wheel out the 100's any more.

LBA-AMS drops back to 3 daily from 4 weekdays for the winter timetable. Not sure if other routes also have a reduction too so there may be enough F70s to go around.

While I'd like to see the E190 into LBA (and on some trips a F70 is pretty full so it should be possible to fill it) it is a step down from the F70 in C as you don't get the empty seat next to you :)

Bristol certainly does. It also drops from 4 x weekly to 3 x weekly each winter and the standard equipment is also the F70.

Senior moment there TLY, don't you mean 4 to 3 daily.

Good spot, Seasider.

Just shows how dangerous it can be letting old duffers like me loose with a computer keyboard.

I hope that Freud is not somewhere in the ether rubbing his hands to see if 3 x weekly is what I subconsciously believe should be the case.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
