Sorry to hear that. There isn't a lot I can do about it as the community can come and go as it pleases just as you have. I think rather than negativity it's more a case of frustration, particularly with the planning situation and so on. Hopefully good times will come again but we shouldn't forget how well our little airport is doing all things considered.
Absolutely - we all have a different take on it and express it in different ways - at the end of the day we have to trust that whatever is going on behind closed doors is supporting the investment in LBA and of course that does not stop management attracting airlines such as EW who don't overnight anyway!

Booked Jet2 holiday to Jersey departing September 16th for 7 days. Be interest to see how one of our 737-300's perform on the route. Quick check shows outbound flight is over 90% full so despite conversations on this forums about the use of the 300 series aircraft and loading on some of the routes flown by this type it looks healthy for the future of the route from LBA.

Many thanks in advance

Flew last Wednesday 16.40 LS433 to Corfu. Terminal busy. Over officious security guard at boarding pass gate but other than that fine. 5 minute delay departure due to inbound from Catania. Outbound 8 rows unused plus sporadic seats. Back Friday 11.40 arrival. Resorts quietening down with schools due back.

Fly to watch Oviedo and Sporting Gijon in January. Very difficult location to get to. Outbound Manchester Barcelona with Vueling with Volotea connection to Asturias and then Iberia Asturias via Madrid to Manchester. Easyjet did not fly on the days we needed sadly from LBA. Return with Iberia £53 including taxes.

Also head to Copenhagen at the end of September. Ridiculous number of options from Manchester. Fly SAS outbound EasyJet inbound. It’ll never happen but Copenhagen could sustain a flight from Leeds imo. Been several times and the amount of people east of the Pennines on these flights is plentiful.

When I go to Denmark I just pay the extra and fly from Leeds over AMS.

Currently in the new departure lounge, very impressive, not quite as large as i expected but when you add in the existing lounge its a good size, plus of course there is more works to be done, nice and cool due to the air con, great views of the airfield, a fresh clean look and the airport certainly has a more international feel to it.
1st pic is the long tunnel to the new dep lounge, 2nd pic the main lounge are, 3rd pic looking from the other end where gates 10-12 are located and final pic shows view of apron/runway from the new loungeIMG_20250831_181702.jpgIMG_20250831_181756.jpgIMG_20250831_181936.jpgIMG_20250831_184449.jpg

Quick update, the only let down are the steps going down to the apron from each gate, tight, unfinished with just painted breeze blocks, other than that a pleasant experience thru yorkshires premier airport!

Return from ALC to LBA tomorrow 08.20 fr2660 so looking forwards to passing through the new arrivals facilities, looks like im one of five arrivals at that time so will see how arrivals copes.
Update, just landed at LBA, was thru security and baggage reclaim in 10mins, definitely an upgrade for sure with more of a large airport feel esp in baggage reclaim, currently it does feel abit strange as you walking down white plastered corridors due to ongoing construction, one question, is that the total number of security desks as i counted 4 desks with 2 checking passports on each desk

I flew LBA-REU yesterday with Ryanair on their 09:00 flight. I took the 06:00 A1 flyer from Leeds. It was standing room only by the time it reached the Crowne Plaza on Wellington Steeet. This service needs improvements, yes it was a lovely new clean bus with WiFi…just wasn’t big enough…or frequent enough. Got to LBA at 06:45 and the security was outside in the pen and stretching down to the new outside arrivals area, luckily it wasn’t raining. 50mins to get through although the queue was constantly moving. Again, one of the new boarding card scanners was closed but I think this is to manage the flow of people better. I got a notification on my app saying the flight was delayed 1hour (original aircraft was tech so they positioned EI-GSH up from EMA) “Old” terminal areas were packed but the extension was fine. I do love the views from there. Boarding started at 09:15 and the booked figure was 180 plus 5 infants. Once I was onboard it seemed everyone around me was from the Teesside area. Ladies next to me were from Darlington. She told me they fly from LBA every time because NCL is a pain for them to get to. Group of lasses behind me were from Middlesbrough. Flight time of 2:12 down to REU. Just a quick day trip for me, had a bite to eat at the aero club. Lovely view but nothing much to watch. Flew back to STN at 16:20 which was delayed due to ATC restrictions at STN due to Trump, then 2 trains home which were surprisingly easy to navigate.

No rest for the wicked, I’m away to Kefalonia tomorrow for 4 nights so will post security times etc for my 16:15 flight.

I often come across pax from the Teesside area. In fact some relatives xame down from there for the Jerez flight earlier this year.

Flew with Jet2 from LBA to REU yesterday. Check-in and security very quiet. As I generally find with LBA staff were very pleasant and the new area is light and spacious. We went for the 681 lounge which had a good selection of hot food and very cute mini roast dinners in Yorkshire puddings! I feel swapping out the welcome prosecco which we got in the old lounge for the Yorkshire lass cocktail is a mistake and that let the side down. Overall despite reviews a positive experience and a fair price at £34 a head including the fast track promotion! LBA is shaping up well and looking forward to seeing the finished result! Oh and loving the new covered steps to the aircraft on a soggy day!

I flew LBA-EFL yesterday with Jet2. Got to the airport at 1300ish for a 1615 departure. I was gifted a fast track pass and lounge access. Security was a breeze, even the non FT queue. I had a booking at 1415 for the 681 lounge, possibly at the same time as AirBingley. Again I quite liked it…or was that just because it was free for me. Ordering drinks is a bit of an experience if the lounge is busy, like it was yesterday. You can’t order at the bar, only on the app and then it’s brought too you…20mins later. Loved the mini Yorkshire puds and roasties. Good selection of other mains and salads, cheeses and cakes. Would I pay to go in there again…erm, probably not. Flight down to Kefalonia was 3 hours 20mins with 122 on board. Currently sat by the pool basically at the end of the runway…happy days 🥰

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
