Air India 773 VT-ALX from EWR is currently descending over North Wales for a stop in Birmingham on it's way to Mumbai.

BHX website shows it as a scheduled arrival from NY then departure to Mumbai. Is this a one-off? Or, dare I say it, a test run for a regular service?

Another forum said this is to do with crew rest hours due to the airspace closure in Pakistan

Due to the airspace issues Air India have been making stops in Europe, Vienna and Stockholm have been regulars I believe.

According to Jon01 on prune we'll be seeing VT-ALU tomorrow arriving from Washington then departing to Delhi.

Apologies if this has been mentioned somewhere else, but who is doing the maintenance? Has someone now taken over the Monarch hangar?
This is something that has been puzzling me also. I had intended to ask why EI-ENU had visited, but didn't get around to it. My thoughts were if it had been 12 months earlier, it would have been for maintenance with MAEL.
I've read elsewhere that hangar staff will be employed on an ad hoc basis by the admistrators KMPG.
I've heard this too, but thought that it was basically to allow based airlines access to facilities on the airfield to carry out maintenance on their aircraft. The airlines providing their own certified engineers and equipment.
I also read that the Monarch equipment had been auctioned off by KPMG (perhaps not all of it was sold?).
To have 2 x 787-9's arriving within days seems odd. Are they bringing their own certified engineers? What about equipment?
Or, has KMPG signed a contract with Neos for maintenance of their 787-9's? Again, where are the certified engineers being supplied from and what is the source of the equipment.
It would seem odd for an aircraft to be ferried that far for minor maintenance.
Possibly, I'm overthinking it all.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
