I know this has probably been posted before but i'm going to ask anyway...

Is this service done year round? I think over the winter especially the flights could do very well. I for one have never been to Denmark and i'd love to visit there especially over the winter. :good:

The current Summer 2014 schedule see's Scandinavian Airline operate CRJ900's on the Copenhagen - Leeds/Bradford route 2x weekly on Monday & Fridays. The service is due to take a break shortly. (I suppose due to School holidays) The last flight been on Friday, June 27th and then restarting on Friday, August 22nd.

Currently the winter 2014/15 schedule (Commences Monday October 27th) see's The 2x weekly Monday & Friday service continue to operate but the route will be operated by Cimber Air using smaller CRJ200 aircraft instead. At the moment it looks like flights continue to operate up until Monday, January 5th 2015. It then seems the services takes winter break with flights restarting again from Friday, March 6th 2015 operated by Scandinavian Airline's CRJ900's..

Good news is that the winter 2014/15 schedule see's a better flight timings been introduced as follows.

SAS1543 = CPH 13:10 - LBA 14:00 / SAS1544 = LBA 14:30 - CPH 17:15

The time changes over the winter have really opened up many more weekend connections. The current late Friday evening arrival into CPH limits the connection options, but not so in the winter. The prices IMO are very reasonable too with some onward connections not adding much extra cost to the base CPH return fare.

The winter timetable now opens up weekends in Stockholm, Helsinki, Oslo. Trips to see the northern lights in Trondheim and Tromso are much easier with the winter flight times. Visited Copenhagen in April and can definitely recommend.

A bit of good news.....it appears from the SAS website that flights from the 30th March 2015 (i.e. start of summer timetable) are currently scheduled to be operated by the A319 and not the CRJ900.

The winter period is still scheduled to be operated by the CRJ200.

Now that's a serious but welcomed big upgrade to the service if it happens! I suppose SAS must be happy with the current loads and forward bookings, as I had thought they would have added extra flights say going up to 4 weekly using the CRJ's.

I see we had 630 declared on the CAA stats for April. I am guessing at 16 sectors in April which makes an average of 39 per flight.

So no SAS flight today, when do they intend re-starting the service ? it seems weird to stop when the most important event in Yorkshire this year is happening next weekend.

As i understand things the SAS service was always planned to take a summer break which is indicative of the general market conditions that exists (Other UK airport also have a contraction in services to Scandinavia as well!). Good news is that the twice weekly (MON-FRI) Copenhagen - Leeds flights restart from Friday, August 22nd.

Hope thats of help..

Couldn't help noticing today on the LBIA website that SAS are having a sale until 26th August advertising return flights from LBA to CPH (and vice versa) for £96. Not a bad price at all and, it is worth noting, it is very competitive against the Easyjet fare from across the hill. Of course, the likelihood is that the cheap seats will go very quickly. I may be tempted....

Flew out to CPH last night, first time I have used SAS, and it won't be the last. The CRJ900 was very nice, crew service good, were about 35 of us on board. The LBA experience was fantastic at that time of day, we were through security in all of 2 minutes, and enjoying a beer (sat down too!) in another 2 minutes

hi leedsman
thanks for the info re S.A.S.to CPH lets hope the pax numbers grow as people realize the route has started again.

Back home on the CPH-LBA today, load was roughly mid 50s.

That seems to be quite a good load considering the 'stop - start' nature of this service and the restrictive timing. I guess SAS know what they are doing as they have already said they have targeted tourist traffic but you would think they might become more established with a well timed and regular service which would capture business traffic.

Heard only 10 booked on the CPH tomorrow, very poor load for a Monday flight but then again - it appeals very little to the business passenger with the return only operating Friday.

The writing is on the wall for this route me thinks and it can only be attributed to poor frequencies and the half hearted attempt from SAS. I have no doubt there are many passengers travelling to Scandinavia from LBA who are using BA or KLM to connect for better flexibility.

I didn't count the heads but there were plenty of people on Friday's inbound flight.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
