A couple of things:

-Hainan seem to be growing their presence out of Guangzhou, with destinations such as Cambodia and Vietnam available for connections. They are also planning to open European routes. Let's hope Manchester comes to fruition.

-Hainan have introduced a reverse herringbone business class product on their new 787-9s. This features direct aisle access, wifi etc. I hope, if this is to become a regular feature, it will go down very well with MAN based travellers and help more corporations use Hainan to China. I know of many from Macclesfield/Congleton/Stoke on Trent that still send people down to London for flights to China. A daily flight has also helped no doubt with this.

MAN airport arrivals shows it being 'on time' but the flight not showing on tracking sites.

On 25th July, Hainan Airlines will operate an amended service, routing Manchester-Stansted-Beijing, with Boeing 787-9 equipment (it is usually a 787-8 on Tuesdays). As a result, the aircraft will leave Manchester at 1025am.

It's taking Hainan staff home after their European jolly. They came on the flight that went via Stockholm the other week, and will go out via this flight on 25th. I don't know how they got from Stockholm to London, but I know the Hainan boss flew direct to MAN before going to London.

I've just been doing some research for friends re a Winter trip to Asia and Australia. In the course of this, I noted that Hainan Airlines MAN-PEK flights show as reverting to A330-300 ops for the November dates I checked. Of course, whilst the A333 is an older type it does represent a capacity increase if the service remains daily.

All being well, there should be more capacity this winter.

HU have applied for daily PEK on A333 and daily CAN on B789 this winter. Now, what I expect will happen isn't 2 daily over winter as that seems a capacity overload in what is their slightly quieter winter period, but instead PEK remaining 4 weekly with the A333 to balance capacity out there, and a new 3 weekly CAN on the days PEK doesn't run, but that route with a B787. This is similar to what they have done with PEK/PVG at BRU.

It could well go 2 daily over the summer, but I don't expect it straight off the bat in winter.

I notice Hainan have opened reservation today for new routes, beginning 26th October, from CTU and CKG to New York JFK.

Do we know when an announcement is expected for CAN-MAN?

The only note of caution is a decrease on PEK. Presumably bookings do tail off for winter anyway AND we are adding a slug of capacity on an "untested" route in Winter?

That would be a bit of a climb down from DUB. I gather the previous MAN tag option fell through because they wanted MAN to be the tag to DUB and HU said "no thanks".
