The 789 is a decrease in seats, therefore I am hoping it means an increase in frequency!

The respective capacities are 292 (A333) versus 288 (B789) according to seatguru. Obviously, I hope to see a frequency increase on MAN-PEK also though I doubt that a differential of 4 seats per flight would be the trigger for this.

According to ACL in their pre-season report there was no date given for the increase in frequency. I take that to mean that the frequency changes on 26th March, however that is subject to confirmation.

If I hear anything else I'll let you know.

I've just been looking at the Hainan website timetable for the week commencing 12th June and there are 5 flights scheduled for that week.

It looks as if the extra flight - on a Thursday - starts on 4th May through to the end on June when it reverts to 4 per week.

As I said previously I'll let you know if I see any further changes.

Sounds like it might be permanent. It would be frustrating if HU follow SQ and CX in going 5x weekly rather than daily, but this is a much better service than a few short years ago.

Amadeus shows it into July but not afterwards, hopefully they are playing with the schedules and the five-weekly change is permanent. Obviously GDS is suggesting permanent.

@Dobbo - is the 789 still on?

From Hainan's Facebook Page:
'Great News! We are adding a fifth weekly flight during the period in May-June on our Tel Aviv-Beijing route! #FlyHainan'
Hopefully we will receive some confirmation soon of our increase but I hope it isn't just for May and June! It is not bookable yet on Hainan's website so we will wait and see!

It was, I believe, in the Summer 2017 pre-season report of slot requests that is produced by ACL.

Only Air China can operate the PVG-MAN route, unless Hainan were to operate HGH-MAN and call it 'Shanghai Metropolitan Area' as some airlines do.

Guangzhou is also very odd as it would be a much better fit for China Southern.

Well, as I understand it HU can strike a deal with Air China for the rights to Shanghai.

Whether Air China are willing to do a deal or simply want to use/sit on the rights is another question.

Air China should not be sitting on the rights, considering this is an extremely needed route. I know Hainan likes to have multiple routes to one airport e.g. BOS now has Hainan to both Shanghai and Beijing.

Looking back at the very beginning of this thread, amongst the PEK rumours there was also a rumour of a 3x weekly Shanghai 787-8 service.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
