Warsaw goes A321 from 24th September.
Interesting and big growth on this route.

There was rumour while bk about LOT think it was on this forum wonder if they will compete or if this will put them off..if indeed they did ever intend to do BHX.

great.... again another significant jump in capacity, though I notice the flights reduce back to 2x weekly from November to February with the exception of a few weeks eitherside of Christmas. Budapest on the other hand stays at 3x weekly permanently.... unless things continue to change!

So far, the winter 16/17 schedule is looking as follows:

+Bucharest - 2x weekly A320 (New Route for W16/17!!!)
+Budapest - 3x weekly A321 (Operated 2x weekly A320 W15/16 - 91% capacity increase!!)
+Poznan - No flights loaded (Operated 2x weekly A320 W15/16 - lets hope this changes)
+Sofia - 2x weekly A320 (New Route for W16/17!!!)
+Warsaw - 2x Weekly A321 (Operated 2x weekly A320 W15/16 - 26% capacity increase!!)
+Wroclaw - No flights loaded (New route - lets hope it continues through winter)

As things stand, that's already a weekly seat capacity of circa 3,750 pax, and increase of 73% over W15/16 which is great, lets hope Wroclaw and Poznan join the club, with a decent boost in capacity for the later!

Those are some good numbers and for Wizz to be upgrading two routes to an A321 so soon surely must be a sign that they're happy?

Poznan and Wroclaw don't have any winter flights on sale to anywhere yet, I'll be surprised if they don't carry on though. Poznan has seen some great loads and I really hope they can fit in a third flight, if not this year then hopefully for next summer. Looking at Wroclaw and the first few seat maps appear healthy, especially when you consider that lots of Poznan seats seem to get booked very late and Wroclaw is a similar market.

It's a good point about LOT, if they are considering Birmingham then I wonder if this will influence their decision? I don't have any data but I've always imagined Poland to be a fairly low yielding market, more suited to the loco's. LOT don't exactly have an extensive amount of connections either. With Warsaw being the capital it could be different and LOT may well see a market.

Whatever happens I'm just glad to see Wizz doing well :good:

Poznan and Wroclaw are now both being loaded for winter.

Poznan shows Sat and Tue with Wroclaw still Mon and Fri.

oh that's a shame with regard to no additional rotations on the POZ route... both A320 Ray???

As posted by Ray on the General BHX thread... tomorrows Wizz Seat Maps suggest...

Birmingham to Poznan 96%

Poznan to Birmingham 91%

Birmingham to Warsaw 89%

Warsaw to Birmingham 87%

...again, great to see when an average route wide average for Wizz is 86%... begs the question though of when will they increase capacity on POZ with loads like that?!?!

Nothing extra to Poznan but it's early days. Both are A320, I think the A321's are only operating from BUD, WAW and OTP initially.

The winter schedule as it stands.

Budapest - A321

Sat, Tue, Thur.

BUD 15:05 BHX 16:55

BHX 17:30 BUD 21:00

Warsaw - A321

Sat and Tue. Thur flight operates in Dec and Jan.

WAW 05:50 BHX 07:35

BHX 08:10 WAW11:35

Bucharest - A320

Sun and Thur

OTP 06:00 BHX 07:40

BHX 08:10 OTP 13:25

Poznan - A320

Sat and Tue

POZ 20:05 BHX 21:25

BHX 21:55 POZ 00:55

Sofia - A320

Mon and Fri

SOF 17:00 BHX 18:30

BHX 19:05 SOF 00:25

Wroclaw - A320

Fri and Mon

WRO 19:50 BHX 21:10

BHX 21:40 WRO 00:55

So the current Winter Timetable now that all existing routes have come on sale result in the following

+Bucharest - 2x weekly A320 (New Route for W16/17!!!)

+Budapest - 3x weekly A321 (Operated 2x weekly A320 W15/16)

+Poznan - 2x weekly A320 (Same at W15/16 - lets hope that changes)

+Sofia - 2x weekly A320 (New Route for W16/17!!!)

+Warsaw - 2x Weekly A321 (Operated 2x weekly A320 W15/16)

+Wroclaw - 2x weekly A320 (New Route for W16/17!!!)

Consequently, on a weekly bases, W16/17 compares with W15/16 as follows:

W15/16
6x weekly A320 flights = 2,160 Seat available
TOTAL = 2,160 Seats available

W16/17
5x weekly A321 flights = 2,300 Seat available
6x weekly A320 flights = 2,160 Seat available
TOTAL = 4,460 Seat available - a 106% increase in weekly capacity!!!! (and that doesn't include the extra capacity added to the WAW routes over Dec and Jan)

In the event this continues, and we hope it will continue to grow in the form of extra routes and capacity, Wizz will not represent just short of 250,000 seat annually at BHX, a great start but a lot more potential, especially when you consider the likes of Flybe and Ryanair offer between 1.75-2.00m seat annually from BHX!

Some great numbers there.

Just one small correction,

W16/17
5x weekly A321 flights = 2,300 Seat available
6x weekly A320 flights = 2,160 Seat available
TOTAL = 4,460 Seat available - a 106% increase in weekly capacity!!!!

There are actually 8 weekly A320 flights rather than 6 (Bucharest, Wroclaw, Poznan and Sofia all at 2x weekly) so with 2880 seats that makes the final numbers even better

well spotted....

W15/16
6x weekly A320 flights = 2,160 Seat available
TOTAL = 2,160 Seats available

W16/17
5x weekly A321 flights = 2,300 Seat available
8x weekly A320 flights = 2,880 Seat available
TOTAL = 5,180 Seat available - a 140% increase in weekly capacity!!!! (and that doesn't include the extra capacity added to the WAW routes over Dec and Jan)

So with that schedule we're looking at a little over 270,000 seats pa. Using their network average of 86% would give us an extra 230,000 pax each year.

Tomorrows seat maps.

Birmingham to Poznan 88%

Poznan to Birmingham 93%

Birmingham to Warsaw 89%

Warsaw to Birmingham 86%

The average Wizz load factor for Feb was 86.4%.

The rolling 12 months is 88.2%.

I've not got the full months stats but most of the seat maps that I've checked equal, or beat those.

According to airline route, the Sofia flights will be operated by A321 aircraft from 17th February 2017.2 weekly.
Hope this means forward bookings are strong for this service. :good:

Sofia is now showing an A321 on their website

More great news with the A321 now on half of their routes.

All we need now are for Poznan and Wroclaw to go 3/4x weekly.

And maybe, just maybe sometime this year, they announce more new routes out of BHX.

But really great to see Wizz Air introduce there new A321s on many of there BHX routes after a short time.

Three Wizz Air flights tomorrow with Poznan due at 07:30, Warsaw at 09:30 and the first Wroclaw due at 20:50.

The seat map shows the first flight to Wroclaw is 86%. It doesn't seem to have affected Poznan too much which is showing as 93%, Warsaw is also 93%.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
