Wizz Air - Winter 25/26
Wizz Air UK have two bases in the UK, LTN and LGW.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi do not operate to the UK at this time
Wizz Air Hungary and Wizz Air Malta do operate to the UK and in summer 2025 operate from their bases in Europe to the following five UK airports: ABZ, BHX, GLA, LBA and LPL.
In winter 2025, GLA will lose its only route to BUD meaning only 4 UK airports outside of London will see Wizz Air operations.

The below table lists all Wizz Air bases (not including LTN & LGW) down the left, and which UK airports they operate to in winter 2025.
ABZ will have 3x weekly departures,
LBA will see 11/12.
LPL will have 14.
BHX has 18.

You can see the routes that have been cut are highlighted in red, and the only new route highlighted in green. Any new routes to BHX would likely be to bases that have already got routes to the UK (highlighted in yellow), and will be almost certainly to an airport on this list.

Wizz have just announced their financial year end results for 24/25 in it they say they had a peak of 43 aircraft out of service now down to to 37 and by September will only be down to 34 so some wiggle room for increases but not much.

They also state the average out of service time is 300 days to bring the P&W engines up to standard.

Nevertheless it's been a really good week for BHX and its LCC's Ryanair, EasyJet and now Wizz.

So where next for wizz?

Vienna?
Prague?
Chisnau?
Katowice?
My post above lists all the Wizz bases, and PRG isn’t on there meaning it’s very unlikely they’ll start a route there. You can also see that Wizz dropped its KTW to LPL route so I’m not sure a KYW to BHX will be on the cards.
Wizz do operate from CLJ, IAS, WAW & GDN to other UK airports but not to BHX, so maybe these’ll be more likely?

Rome up and running.

Wizz Air UK has marked the launch of Rome (FCO) as their latest destination from Birmingham after their inaugural flight departed from Birmingham Airport (BHX) yesterday (Monday 16th June 2025).

Published 17 June 2025

The low-cost carrier will be operating flights to the Italian capital with a frequency of three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Tickets are now available for sale on wizzair.com and via Wizz Air’s official mobile app.

Rome is the third most visited city in Europe and is renowned for its rich history, vibrant culture, and exquisite cuisine. Top attractions include the world-famous Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and the Sistine Chapel within Vatican City. With convenient flight times and direct service, the new route makes it easier than ever to immerse oneself in the beauty of the Eternal City.

Olivia Harangozó, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air, stated: "We are excited to add this new route to our portfolio in Birmingham, giving more opportunity for Brits to visit the eternal city in its Jubilee Year for low fares. Rome is one of the world’s most iconic destinations, and we are delighted to continue offering new affordable travel options to one of the most sought-after city-break destinations for British tourists.”

Tom Screen, Aviation Director of Birmingham Airport said: “We’re delighted to see Wizz Air’s inaugural flight to Rome take off from Birmingham Airport. This new route complements the airlines existing routes to: Budapest, Bucharest and Craiova direct from Birmingham.
“Rome is a major European centre for finance, business, and culture, so it is great to have more capacity and choice on this route for our customers
All flights will be operated using the last-generation Airbus A321neo, the most efficient and sustainable aircraft in its category.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
