well even for a jolly, we gave it the fully red-carpet and water cannon treatment!!! we obviously want to impress wizz...

....and promising to hear rumours of wizz wanting to continue expansion. at the moment, both Vuelling, Wizz and Norwegian are offering 9x weekly departures a week next summer, I cant wait for one of them to break away from that!

I believe Poznan starts on the 18th December so maybe an announcement around then????

Amongst the VIP's on board were the Debrecen Chamber of Commerce which seem to have had a special mention from BHX.

That would be a nice little route.

I followed the flight on FR24 and saw that they seemed to take a route so that they flew past EMA at a relatively low altitude. I wonder if this gives any indications of the future although it would seem unlikely with their presence at BHX?

Welcome to Forums4airports whateverg

The routing of an aircraft will bear no indication as to what Wizz will do in the future.

The A321 was simply a jolly but I do understand Wizz will have 6 BHX routes in S16.

Looks like Debrecen might be one of them...so what will the other one be? I would personally like them to start Riga, but there are so many to choose from!

If they do choose Riga, it would enable them to compete with Ryanair in the Baltic market without having overkill on one route, which would seem to be the case if they start Vilnius (Ryanair seem perfectly happy with just 2 weekly, even while they're expanding elsewhere from BHX, so any more flights to Lithuania might be stretching it).

Then again, Wizz and Blue Air have both announced Bucharest, competing with each other, so if they do start Vilnius I hope I'm proved wrong :D

Bucharest is a route which I'm sure we'll all be watching closely next summer.

I think Lublin is on the cards and I'd take Riga any day.

Other options could be Katowice or Gdansk if they want to take on Ryanair or Kosice, Cluj, Sofia, Wroclaw if they fancy something new?

New route to Wroclaw starts 18th March.

2x weekly Mon and Fri.

W6 1807 WRO 19:30 BHX 20:50
W6 1808 BHX 21:20 WRO 00:35

That is great news Ray, Wizz air now starting to get a good operation at BHX in a very short time. This must confirm that they have a good relationship with the airport team and are pleased with its existing routes.

Good Stuff

Good news indeed and another unserved destination added.

In the past routes have come in pairs, Budapest and Warsaw for the launch then Bucharest came quickly after Poznan, maybe one more before Christmas? :)

I thought Lublin would be the next Polish destination, Sofia would be a nice route. I wouldn't rule out Cluj or Iasi, possibly to pre-empt another route from Blue Air.

Poznan starts a week on Friday. The first couple of outbound flights are around 90% sold, inbound is lighter but you'd expect that a week before Christmas. The seat map looks decent into the new year.

Gutting, I must check their website daily and missed this one!!!

Great to see yet more signs that Wizz are committed to BHX. Wroclaw isn't a big base out of Poland so Wizz seem to have done their homework.

It funny to remember that the first Wizz plan didn't land at BHX until September this year, now next summer, we can expect 11 weekly flights to 5 destinations. Things are indeed looking promising....

So far we have:

Bucharest - 2x weekly
Budapest - 2x weekly
Poznan - 2x weekly
Warsaw - 3x weekly
Wroclaw - 2x weekly

With a schedule below:

Monday
• Wroclaw

Tuesday
• Poznan
• Warsaw

Wednesday
• Bucharest
• Budapest

Thursday
• Warsaw

Friday
• Wroclaw

Saturday
• Poznan
• Warsaw

Sunday
• Bucharest
• Budapest

BHX - Wroclaw is now available on their standard website and is on the route map...

BHX is now in 4th place with regard to the number of flights offered by Wizzair at UK airports, behind, Luton, Doncaster and Glasgow. Now bad for their first year of service!

To be 4th is quite an achievement in such a short space of time.

Looking at their 8 routes to Glasgow they have Gdansk, Katowice and Vilnius, which are all served from BHX by Ryanair. Warsaw, Bucharest, Poznan and Budapest we already have, so that just leaves Lublin.

If they could make Riga, Lublin and Cluj the next three routes I'd be very, very happy

With all the EK excitement it's probably been forgotten that Poznan starts tomorrow, the first two outbound flights are totally sold out.

I think it's also the first day of two scheduled Wizz flights with Poznan due at 07:30 and Warsaw two hours later at 09:30.

Indeed it is, well onwards and upwards for WizzAir at BHX too, I hope they see the potential @bhx in 2016 and also expand there operations at the airport. :good:

Poznan, once the capital of Poland, is located midway between Berlin and Warsaw. It is best known for renaissance architecture and its huge square in the Old Town considered by many to be one of Europe’s most beautiful. The city is one of Poland’s oldest and so it has many fabulous historic attractions including a magnificent cathedral. It is also an important cultural and business centre with modern shops, restaurants and bars.

Wizz Air offers 11 routes to seven countries from Poznan making it also serve as a well-connected city for ongoing travel. Seats on the new Birmingham route are available from just PLN 39 one-way including taxes and non-optional charges and can be purchased on wizzair.com

Tamara Mshvenieradze, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air, said: “With the new route from Poznan to Birmingham, we are now offering flights to seven countries and 11 destinations from Poznan. The connection with such a market as Birmingham was long-awaited and with two weekly frequencies we expect this route to be among the favourites for our UK as well as Polish passengers. With tickets starting from as low as PLN 39 this is a perfect opportunity to travel away for a long weekend to the second largest city in the UK.”

William Pearson, Aviation Development Director, said: “Wizz Air started flying from Birmingham Airport in September this year, and has already carried more than 12,000 passengers through the airport with its low fare seats selling quickly to Eastern European destinations.

"Poznan is the third Polish city being served by the airline direct from Birmingham Airport. We’re confident that this will be a very popular route with our passengers as the city is one of Poland’s largest and most important business and leisure destinations making it excellent for city breaks, it also serves as a well-connected city for ongoing travel.”

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
