Eurowings (Lufthansa) will fully take over Brussels Airlines next year.

I read an article the other day that suggested it was unclear if Brussels Airlines would be subsumed into Eurowings or whether it would continue to operate under its own brand, albeit part of Eurowings.

A poster on the Dried Plum averred that Lufthansa is spreading itself in this way (as with Air Berlin) to try to keep out competition. That poster also mentioned increasing co-operation with a Middle Eastern Airline that 'cannot be named'. I take this to be Etihad which the DP has forbidden mention of for a long time.

It did the same with the would-be Cardiff airline FlyForBeans.

It might be a legal issue but but it does nothing for free speech!

Many thanks for the info, it will be interesting to see what happens.

Quite possibly as a result of the fall out from what happened with Ryanair? I don't know exactly what was said but I seem to remember quite a few public apologies, I think there may also have been some donations to charity?
That was certainly the case with Ryanair although the DP never banned people talking about that airline. I think the issue with FlyForBeans was that some posters were making derogatory comments about certain people involved with that eventual failed start-up that bordered on being libellous.

A random week in May shows SN2037/8 operated by Brussels Airlines, SN2045/6 operated by Flybe and SN2047/48 and SN2049/50 operated by Cityjet.

Brussels first SSJ. Credit to the taker. Looks very smart in my opinion :)

Brussels Airlines promoting Birmingham-Mumbai via Brussels on social media at the moment.

Also noted Brussels Airlines have brought TCX Belgium; Brussels Airlines itself has been brought by Lufthansa which is going to absorb it into Eurowings! Anyone else get confused???

They are taking over the flights for TCX Belgium. 2 aircraft and 160 pilots and crew as well. The other aircraft will go to the rest of TCX.

Throughout August Brussels is showing 2x Cityjet SU9, 1x Flybe and 1x BMIR.

From September 4th it changes to 2x Brussels Airways A319, 1x Cityjet and 1x Flybe.

For the winter period it's currently showing 3x daily Brussels A319.

I'd say it's all very much still subject to change.

I'm guessing SN2045/6 (lunchtime Flybe) is the flight being dropped for winter as things stand?

Yes the Flybe service isn't available at the moment.

I've not worked it out but I think 3x daily A319 (if it stays that way) is actually an increase in seats over the 3x daily RJ and daily Flybe?

Brussels Airlines is accelerating the retirement of it’s SSJ100s,and not renewing the leases.
The last chance to see one at BHX will be tomorrow December 31st.

Retiring? Are these quite young aircraft or perhaps sanctions against Russia are making acquisition of spares difficult enough to look elsewhere for equipment? Perhaps they do not fit in with the wider Lufthansa group fleet?

Do any other carriers operate Sukhoi aircraft into Birmingham?

The SSJ aircraft are being retired from Brussels Airlines service.I guess they will find new homes, but you may be correct with your comment regarding spares etc,and the political situation.Russian Airlines may find them useful, but not so much Western Carriers.
As yet,no other airlines use or have used them into BHX.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
