All I can find is a response from BT in 2016, in answer to a query from a local councillor, stating the tower is still fully operational although the advances in communications technology means that the old dishes are redundant. It still appears to be owned by BT.

It's been some years since the Tinshill Tower looked like the Wikipedia picture. I don't know if any aerials are left !

I haven't passed it recently so I can't say I've noticed what's on it. I'm guessing it's probably used by the numerous telephone companies as a mobile phone mast these days?

Mr @Aviador, I'm planning a weekend in Leeds in the new year for Mrs F and I. The last time we were up there you recommended a certain Thai restaurant but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called, I'm hoping you can recall as we want to book again?

Hi @RayFinkle If it's of any help I would recommend the Sukhothai restaurant in Headingley. But they also have outlets in Chapel Allerton, Leeds City Centre its self or over in Harrogate.

Website link here for you.

That's the one, thanks ever so much (y)

We went there last time we were in Leeds and really enjoyed it, we'll definitely be going back.

Thanks again.

This gives a decent summary of the main findings of the recently released air crash investigation report. As in all such accidents, the cause is never one single event but a series of different failings that all come together with tragic results.

US senator tells Boeing chief: Your 737 Max planes were ‘flying coffins’

Aerospace giant removed details from pilot manuals about flight control system blamed for the two crashes

BOEING boss Dennis Muilenburg has been accused of turning 737 Max jets into “flying coffins” after the US aerospace giant removed details from pilot training manuals about a new system linked to two fatal crashes.
Once these problems are sorted would you feel happy flying in one? those big engines and the aerodynamics still makes me wonder?

I suspect it will be a series that is quickly replaced altogether. People do have fickle memories but having an aircraft that is completely reliant on a computer program for stability doesn't bode well.

Just to clarify, the MAX does not rely on a computer program for stability. If you turn off all the automation it’s fine to fly. MCAS was there to supplement at certain points - although clearly that system fatally malfunctioned.

The airbus is very much more complex with more computer systems to augment and sit between the flying controls and the control surfaces. Airbus seems to have this approach well established and understand the need for redundancy and failure modes far better than Boeing has. Tbh under calm conditions into incredibly easy to fly, but the complexity makes it a harder aircraft to understand and deal with when you have malfunctions. This isn’t really a systems point, but in windy conditions the 737 is better to fly.

Fight2win....The airport covers 1,102 acres (446 ha) at an elevation of 30 feet (9.1 m). It has two asphalt runways: 14/32 is 9,500 by 150 feet (2,896 x 46 m) and 4/22 is 5,009 by 150 feet (1,527 x 46 m).
NICE RUNWAYS,!
when you leave the uk you realise how backwards we are now, we are the developing country now! wish our runway 14/32 was 2.896!

Once again a military airport converted.
Elvington had a runway 3094 metres long (longer then Robin Hood airport) and 49 acres of Apron, would have been wonderful after the Americans had spent £4M in the early 50's this aerodrome had been taken over.
Accept with RAF Pocklington, RAF Melbourne and RAF FUll Sutton other flying issues in the area.
First time I drove a car at over 150 mph was on Elvington in the early 60's, thankfully the runway seemed to go on for ever, unlike Richard Hammond kept it on the concrete.

RAF scuppered any moves into the Vale of York to protect military operations and now it’s too late the Air Force is just about missing from the area.

This was my understanding of the situation at the time and at least the Americans taught us local youngsters the specific gravity of concrete, started to learn laying concrete at 7 and still nearly 7 decades later not forgotten the lessons.
I can calculate weight bearing loads in my sleep and curing times, was better then the back ache of potato picking or fruit etc picking as a school holiday job as a 7 year old.
The wealth the Americans put in to the local economy will never be forgotten.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
