No I am not sure Snowman, but the Air 2000 757s were about from 1987, as I flew out to FAO on AA and back on AB in October of that year, and it was their first season. They lasted a few years before Air 2000 started operating the A320, and at one time, the 737 300 too. So I would have to guess at late 80s but can't be more accurate than that. Sorry.

Wow...Air2000...another blast from the past. I flew on B757 G-OOOT on a day trip from LBA to Berlin Schoenefeld on 25/11/1996. Great flights both ways. I remember the first 10 or so rows doing the Dambusters song as we were on finals. Ground crew were all taking photos of what would have been quite a rare airline for them.

What with Aigle Azur in France also going, this month has been an absolute shocker for the European aviation scene.

...and it now looks as if XL Airways are next according to the other site. It just gets worse!!

And outside aviation circles, Wright Bus, the NI firm that builds the vast majority of Leeds' bus fleet and all the newer Leeds City Streetdeck buses, have gone into administration today with all but 50 staff laid off.

Also Arriva and Transdev have orders. Some still on delivery to Arriva. Trandsev have diverted it's order for the five buses for the CityZap to Alexander Dennis.

I remember when Charles H Roe at Cross Gates used to build the majority of bus bodies for the then Leeds City Transport on either AEC, Leyland and Daimler chassis. How the UK bus industry has changed.

Ironically I was on a Roe bodied 1962 ex Leeds City Transport Daimler CVG6 at the weekend.

Yeah Sad news about Wright bus. They were once a game changer in the UK bus industry with the Single Deck Scania L94UB Wright Axcess Floline and Volvo B10BLE Wright Renown models.

Its not just the new Route Master for London (Boris Bus) that's put the final nail into the the company.
You can also blame the poor workmanship/builds of its latest products, Single Deck Streetlite and Double Deck Streetdeck. It's no wonder they got nicknamed the "Streetwrecks" and "Streetshit"
Before these came on to the market they had a really good product with both the Single Deck Wright Eclipse & Double Deck Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 models.

I understand Firstbus (Leeds) cancelled there last order of Wight streetwrecks due to poor build quilty. Hence that batch of 20+ buses are now working in Manchester after being picked up by another company.

Suppose its good for local Yorkshire based bus builder Optare and Scotland based Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL)

A quick look at Google maps and from Ilkley to MAN and DSA, there is only 4 miles in it so I will be giving it a try for sure next time if I can’t get a reasonable price from Jet2.

You'll struggle to get a reasonable price out if Doncaster either..unless you're into unpronounceable destinations in Eastern Europe, then it's a very limited range from Tui..They are as eyewatering as Jet2

France is blaming the airlines collapse partly on Norway allegedly giving state aid to competitor Norwegian to keep them afloat. The Norwegians naturally deny this!

Just seems like Norwegian are moving up the que to go belly up as apparently they need to re finance debt again at the turn of the year following Thomas Cook, XL, Jet Airways, WOW, Air Berlin, Primera and of course Monarch etc.

The airline industry definitely seems to be a fight of the fittest more than ever at present.

BT Tower, Tinshill. I'm curious to know if this structure is still owned by BT and if it has any function. I drove past yesterday for the first time in ages and it looked very bereft with hardly any microwave dishes and two skips in the yard. It's probably a listed building now which might explain why it's still with us even if fibre optics have rendered it obsolete.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
