The way it's timed with buses there is always a bus in Leeds Bus Station on layover with the driver on break and the duty manager is there to take the idle bus to replace the broken bus when needed Then the driver on break takes the next bus out when it arrives giving time for a replacement bus to be relocated to Leeds.Okay the single deck Volvo Wright Urban Eclipse vehicles might be 03 reg. But before going onto the CityZap Leeds-Manchester service they have had an extensive maintenance overhaul and undergone a full makeover internally as well. My only worry about the service is the fact its been run Transdev Burnley. So if bus breaks down they have got some mileage to do to get a spare bus out as a replacement.
Saying that Transdev Group do have extensive knowledge of running long distance journeys, you've only got to look at the other routes the group operate out of Leeds, Eg Coastliner and the 36 to Ripon via Harrogate.
But they only have 2 in the fleet at the moment on the X10 so the service is mainly made up of double deckers. From what I saw on Saturday they are using old ‘03’ reg single deckers, which are even older than the wrecks that we usually get on the 97. I dread to think how long they will last when getting thrashed to bits on the M62 (when not stuck in the usual lengthy traffic delays). They should take a leaf out of Stagecoach’s book. At least they are using coaches on the new X10 service from Leeds to Barnsley.
Yeah...I see them every day as a customer care/security officer in LCBS, they range from 03 to 06 plate buses on the Manchester Zap but as for the X10 Stagecoach to Barnsey there are only 2 coaches in the fleet, and that came from a driver!Rangieowe, see my yesterday's post re the age of the buses being used
I am not sure what you mean either Louis, but if you are talking about the direction they face when parked up, then on the main apron they do not face the runway as you suggest and actually park up facing North, away from the runway and airfield. Only a few Jet2 aircraft on the Eastern Aircraft face either East, towards Cookridge, or South West towards the runway. However, when there are strong South Westerly winds forecast, it is common for the aircraft to be parked up facing the opposite direction, with the main apron all facing the runway so that the aircraft are facing into wind. All to do with aerodynamics and to prevent the aircraft getting buffeted too badly by the wind.Hi guys, I feel like I’ve seen this question answers 100,000 times but I still don’t no the answer! Why do the planes at LBA face the runway? Why can’t they just face the normally way? Any response would be great!
Still around 500 flying, although slowly being withdrawn. Around 22 747-800 F’s still on order for delivery so the freighter will be around for a while yet!How much longer can the 747 keep going?
