That's the first time I've seen that render. Cheers for posting it Brum X. We are talking about Leeds though, so putting my pessimistic head on now because every time Leeds has decent proposals it's a case of "Que the recession!"

Its a quality looking development and i hope it gets built. What i like about all of our major cities at the moment, be it Leeds, Manchester or Birmingham, they are all trying to be a bit different in there designs. After all i dont want to see all of our cities just looking the same.

I couldn't agree more. There are some superb buildings going up right now in all our regional cities. Fingers crossed (and toes) for this one.

Majestyk nightclub - Leeds

This video was featured in the YEP over the weekend. It brings back so many memories of my youth days. I've actually searched for Youtube videos of the Majestyk nightclub before but have never found anything until now.

Blimey - that brings back some memories. How about the Fruit Cupboard, Mr Craigs or the legendary T&C for a bit of nostalgia.

I actually met my wife in the Majestyk back 99. She was studying at Leeds University at the time. Happy days.

Yes it makes me feel so old remanising. Those were the days when you really fealt like you'd had a proper night out. And I suppose Maestros in Bradford should get a mention, and the toilet ponds with goldfish in them.

Planning application for a new development in Leeds. Would include the tallest building in Yorkshire at just under 140m tall.

Details:

1) Deliver a new location for the south west of the city centre with up to 750 new homes, workplaces, shops, cafés and restaurants

2) Provide the wider community with attractive new places to walk, rest and enjoy

3) Create thousands of new job opportunities and work in partnership with Employment Leeds to provide on-site training, education, upskilling and apprenticeship opportunities during construction to benefit local people

4) Design inspiring buildings ranging from five to 40-storeys which will put Leeds on the map as a key European destination, creating an exciting gateway arrival point to the city from the south west

5) Retain the two-storey printworks building façade as a feature within the design

6) Improve connectivity – making it easier and more attractive to walk or cycle from Holbeck to the waterfront, railway station and the city centre

7) Assess opportunities to enhance existing community facilities, including the potential for new education uses

8) Create a safe, attractive environment for employees, residents and visitors to enjoy green spaces and public plazas that are appealing and well-lit

9) Revitalise the approach to movement around the area through innovative travel planning backed up by a ground-breaking traffic microsimulation model of the city centre highway network using the internationally acclaimed Aimsun traffic modelling software.

Yes, I think the candlestick tower would be just off screen right if the last angle.

I will leave this just here for all the Leeds folk on here to get your juices flowing. (y)

Im just feeling sick that this wont be going up in my home city :sneaky:

Im not familiar with Leeds but it is called Bridge House.

Bridge House

CJCT were asked to develop proposals for a tall building at a key entry point into Leeds city centre, based around a unique concept that offered places to live for a wide demographic, including student accommodation, private sale apartments and the PRS market, as well as flexible office space, retail units and an aparthotel. All accommodation is supported by a ‘hub’ containing common amenity spaces in order to encourage social interaction and a sense of community.
The design team established a fresh approach to the idea of a tall building in Leeds, utilising a predominantly glazed façade to create an elegant and lightweight architectural statement with a changing character through the day and the year. The form is strategically sharpened and rounded to suit the lines of movement around it, tapering as the building rises into a ‘lantern’ feature which steps to give the building a distinctive silhouette.

Bridge house round 2. The first time something half decent was planned for this site we ran into a global recession. Fingers crossed with this one as it looks superb!

Bit of an odd location for it in my opinion i would of thought something like that would go over by city dock rather then this location. Looks very Londonish.

I would of thought they'd want to build something like this next to the station for the waste of space HS2.

What your not taking into account is what's going up over the road on the old Yorkshire Evening Post site. It will be a fairly dense cluster of towers but this will clearly be the tallest if it gets off the ground.

There's a fair bit of activity in Leeds at the moment, great to see ambitious proposals spread beyond Manchester in the north. By way of summary:
  • Bridge House (as immediately above)
  • Development around tower works (above bridge house)
  • Leeds City station redevelopment.
  • South Bank area of the old tetley brewery.
  • Query hill.
  • New York street.
  • Kirk gate market (proposal for new shops and aparthotel next to Victoria gate).
Just need the Majestyk and City square house to progress!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
