Well I was still half asleep  :D

I was going to do each country alphabetically but I copied the list off the route maps that were done a few months ago.

I forgot Alghero had been dropped but could have sworn that I was pricing up flights to Split not long ago. I believe Izmir is still served by Thomas Cook?

Can't believe I forgot Islamabad

Updated and hopefully correct. I still get 144?

Sorry, gentlemen. I hope I don't cause offence, but that did make me laugh.

Hello all, security firm just let slip that they have air china contract. 4 times a week from July. Might be rumour spreading but then again this is the rumour forum :D

I heard last night that the coach company who have run the Chinese tours from BHX for the past few years had spent a lot of money in adding Chinese writing to their coaches in anticipatation of a 2016 programme.
But they have not heard anything since about 2016 flights

I am convinced we will see a scheduled service I hope you are correct Laddu and it is Air China at 4pw

Well I believe security were told they have signed a contract for a Chinese airline but I wouldn't bet on wether or not he's right about it being 'air china'... there are alot of Chinese carriers

For clarity, its worth re-iterating that the for any Chinese airline want to fly into the UK, they have to apply to the CAAC (the Chinese version of the CAA) to operate flights. So Far Beijing Capital Airlines have applied to operate 1x weekly Beijing and 1x weekly Hangzhou from June 2016. If another airline would wish to operate those routes or change frequencies, a new application would be required.

In which case, if the above is true, there will be an application on the CAAC website. All applications are published in the public domain but it takes a lot of digging to find out the info....

and not to criticize Ray but here is his list if full alphabetical order to easier reading... ray feel free to replace if you think its better....

Much better, thank you (y)

In reference to the 'slip', I'd be interested to know if security did actually say 4 times weekly?

If they've just said that they have the 'contract for a Chinese airline' then it's pretty much nailed on to be Capital Airlines.

On the other hand if they have actually said a 'Chinese airline with 4x weekly flights' then, Capital Airlines or not, this changes matters significantly?

And I suppose if BHX and Beijing Capital are going for the full scheduled flights rather than charter, could be why the date is being pushed back to July 2016, rather than June 2016 ???

If that is the case and Scheduled flights can begin between BHX and china then bring on July 2016.

Regarding the date, 1 security guy said may and the one the next shift said July so middle of June?
Also with them saying four flights would it be counted per leg making two flights a week four jobs for them?

Or have they simply gained the security contract for "The original charter" ?

One Chinese airline will be the same as another to your average security guy.

I think so.

We know Capital Airlines are planning to have 2x weekly flights, so sounds like someone has possibly got a little over excited?

We were teased with the charters allowing the prospect of convertion to scheduled services. We have had China Southern and Hainan, now we are teased with Capital Airlines and the long shot Air China....Hainan went to Manchester, a political gesture during the State Visit, with no word about BHX.... another tease?

What if....a it IS a big if...Cathay Pacific were to announce a Hong Kong service, it IS China with numerous connections throughout the country.....that would suck some business away from MAN and LHR.

I don't think we'll see Cathay any time soon. From what I hear talks have been held with Singapore Airlines but even if BHX can manage to persuade them I imagine it will come further down the line.

Paul Kehoe has mentioned 'a programme of summer charters' and also Tweeted that 'BCA will advise when ready.' It's just a waiting game now :)

Cathay and Singapore are notoriously reserved when it comes to European routes.

Dusseldorf will be Singapores first European route since launching Munich, and Cathay have only just started any meaningful expansion into Europe for many years.

With so many airports wanting China and Far East services, not just in Europe but the rest of the world, I would imagine it would have to be a damn good offer to get a serious look in due to the sheer demand of finate resources.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
