The aircraft time spent on the ground at BHX is interesting, but i suppose it will be their base.

They wouldn't be proposing to shuttle their Scandinavian TATL passengers via BHX would they?

The times at CDG and STN are extremely similar though - what incentive would there be to shuttle through Birmingham rather than Stansted?

Maybe its just to do with expense of slots that they have chosen these timings.

Similar to Ryanair’s ruse of carrying under 200 pax means one less flight attendant per leg.
Yet easyJet revamped their A319s to accommodate 156 passenger seats meaning that an additional flight attendant is required for the sake of six extra seats.

Yes Chicago is in range for a A321neo but its a squeeze, however its comfortably in the range of the A321neoLR which Primera will be leasing 2 of... interestingly neither of these have been allocated routes yet so interesting to see what becomes of them!

Hi there nwoody2001, how are you today, yes the a321 neo long range will just do Chicago with about 240 miles left, so this route is possible if Primera decide to include it. AndyC

Wow is 240 mile spare enough? Not much option to hold and divert or is that already included in your figures?

Does the A321 neo need the extension to get stateside.

Given AA UA have pulled the plug in terms of long haul it's debateable who else is likely to need it ?

Monarch Norwegian and WizzAir will leave a large financial black hole and that runway expansion needs paying for.

Is it possible the airport is finding itself in a bind in terms of having to increase fees to maintain payment for a luxury not needed, but then losing customers in the process?

It is easy to get downhearted at the moment. What we are seeing is:

Growing instability in the UK market given medium term economic uncertainty.
Airlines struggling with over capacity
Short term return on investment with poor yields leading to a swift withdrawal of services
The impact of Jet2 coming in with 35 routes in 15 months swamping the market and the opposition
Key strategic decisions by overseas airlines to focus on only the most profitable routes after a period of unsilustainable growth
Geography being wedged between the London airports and the gateway to the north.

None of this is the Birmingham fault of BHX or Birmingham. It is just the way it is. Of an airline is operating out of BHX with a load factor of 80% or 85% and the instruction goes out from HQ driven by investor pressure to cut a route, guess what.

At the end of the day the BHX catchment is limited by LHR et and MAN plus BRS and EMA snapping away. We are still doing remarkably well but i suspect that the natural level for is will be c16 mppa unless we all fly more, which I doubt we will, or as a result of HS2 we do become a new airport serving London.

What's vital is Birmingham's overall connectivity and in that regard it is excellent and if not the best in the UK. Happy with that.

Does anyone know what’s going on with Primera and Skyscanner? I don’t know if they are just down while they load the YYZ schedule but no TATL Primera routes are currently showing on Skyscanner ...the flights are however showing marked as “Hahn Air Systems”?!?!

Hahn Air is a charter airline based out of DUS but it's core business is a ticketing solution that gives airlines access to computer reservation systems so maybe that's how Primera sells tickets through Skyscanner?

interestingly, on google flights it identifies primera as flying direct but doesn't offer a price, but directs you to the website?

Understandable if you consider trying to sell all the extras with 2 flight attendants. Add another member if crew plus six seats and IMO, there would be a higher profit per flight.

I made the point about easyJet's 319s (having 4 instead of 3 flight attendants because of 6 extra seats) because in an earlier post in this thread it was pointed out that Primera would have 198 seats in its A320neos and the comment was made that it was 'Similar to Ryanair’s ruse of carrying under 200 pax means one less flight attendant per leg'.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
