From Primera's Facebook.

Great news! We are adding direct winter flights Reykjavik to Birmingham, starting December 2018! Get your winter city break at UK’s most inventive city!

Great news. I thought it would not happen. But I eat my hat....maybe just maybe Primera have got it right. Maybe Icelandair will return.

But tbh Ian I don't want icelandair to return, they had there chance and they said "bye" Now it is Primera Air chance to make it work and we must give them some time. It is not going to help Primera Air or BHX if Icelandair came back.

Primera Air are promoting Birmingham in lots of ways on social media. I'm liking it. Saw a Primera Air advert at new street station yesterday. Will try and take a pic on my return later today

I think I saw a Primera advert on the side of a bus.

It was quite a distance away so I can't be totally sure but it looked like one of their 'Where will £149 take you?' adverts.

I have seen nothing from Primera in Essex. I suspect being so close to London a transatlantic route is nothing new, but I would have thought that a new airline from a 'non-transatlantic' airport would have had a bigger advertising push. After all there are 1.6 million of us in Essex alone which by itself is a pretty big market.

Funnily enough I've been saying the same about Qatar's new route to Doha from CWL. Very little advertising in the West Country which might be a key market for the service.

It seems like their maybe more aircraft delivery delays for Primera, I see this on twitter earlier today

“Primera Air to lease Boeing 757 for London Stansted – Newark 19APR18 – 04AUG18 and London Stansted – Boston 18MAY18 – 28MAY18, replacing A321neo”

Wonder how this could affect the BHX operations

You never know it may not effect BHX for a change.

From ch-aviation:

Primera Air Scandinavia has confirmed it will add additional wet-leased aircraft to its summer London Stansted-based fleet amid delays in deliveries of its first A321neo.

Airline chief executive Hrafn "Krummi" Thorgeirsson told ch-aviation in a statement that the Scandinavian carrier would wet-lease a B767-300(ER) from euroAtlantic Airways for transatlantic flights between May 19 and mid-August. The widebody will supplement what is now known to be one B757-200 which will be wet-leased from National Airlines for use on Primera Air's London Stansted-Newark (and occasionally Boston) flights between April 19 to August 4.

Primera Air was to have taken delivery of its first A321neo this month. Thorgeirsson did not proffer any revised dates for the arrival of the type, but expects three A321neo to operate alongside the wet-lease equipment this summer.

I wonder how much it's all going to cost and whether Airbus will be footing all, or part of, the bill?

Reliably informed the Primera timetable is next due to be updated in May ...so hopefully this will be when flights go on sale for the rest of the winter period ...though they’re leaving it quite late...

Lets just hope the 2nd A321 is ready for the 18th May, just over 4 weeks away now, the start date of the New York service from Birmingham and Paris CDG.

By that date both Stansted transatlantic flights will be on the leased B757, so any delays in the production of the 2nd A321 OY-PAB will effect BHX or CDG

anyone know the status of the 2nd A321 at present?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
