We have a Maleth-Aero B735, 9H-MAC as the latest to join the motley bunch of planes drafted in to fly for Primera :bag:

been reported that Primera have applied for slots from Manchester this winter to New York Newark and Washington, that gives a good indication that they wont be back next year at BHX, another deal done by the MAG Airport Group!

If this is confirmed then it confirms Primera have treated BHX like a fool.

MAG you can have em. :bored:

Will be interesting to see how they get on at MAN as there is a lot more competition there.

The thing that is really heart wrenching for a BHX supporter and this is not being anti MAN but they didnt even give BHX a chance and becouse of things out of BHX control they have moved up the road like a flash which leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

Hey Ho this is buisness i suppose but you know what sometimes business stinks.

Good. They would be slaughtered there. But i doubt they will ever get off the ground.

I think they are playing a game and to be honest there can only be one result
At present it looks as if United are likely to upgrade to B763 on EWR and as for
stating IAD in winter NO! as who goes to Washington for a winter holiday.

Well today they are already reducing a number of routes out of STN to make way for a MAN launch probably

Primera Air in recent weeks extended Trans-Atlantic schedule into the end of March 2019 (except selected routes continues to display until second week of December 2018).

For winter 2018/19 season, following routes will see frequency variations.

London Stansted – Toronto eff 28OCT18 Service operates 3 weekly, instead of 5
PF045 STN1730 – 2215YYZ 321 247
PF046 YYZ2345 – 1115+1STN 321 247

London Stansted – Washington Dulles eff 28OCT18 Service adjusts from 5 weekly in summer to following
28OCT18 – 08DEC18 3 weekly (Day 136)
10DEC18 – 30MAR19 4 weekly (Day x247)

PF047 STN1555 – 2050IAD 321 x247
PF048 IAD2220 – 0950+1STN 321 x247

They are beginning to make the SAS BHX to ARN route (deceased ) look half sensible who on earth makes these decisions ?

I suspect if Primera do move their TATL ops up to MAN it'll be because of MAG offering them a better deal than them "not giving BHX a chance".

I fail to understand why TATL struggles so much from BHX. Sure the proximity of Heathrow & Manchester will mean BHX never has a large TATL network (certainly not even as big as Manchester's is now), but surely an airline must be able to get a daily New York and 5+ weekly Toronto service to work? Only options left are Delta or Jetblue for New York (the latter of which hasn't even launched long haul services) and Air Canada (Rouge) or WestJet for Toronto.

I'm willing to be corrected here, but how come Glasgow & Edinburgh are able to maintain so many services to N.America? Edinburgh being the capital of Scotland I can understand, but the distance between Glasgow and Edinburgh is half that of the distance between Birmingham and London, and about two thirds the distance between Birmingham and Manchester. Next week there is no less than 35 flights (5 a day) from both airports combined just to New York! How come BHX (which is snug between EDI & GLA on the passenger league table) can't even manage a single daily flight?

However in my book it is still dirty buisness to have a deal with one airport (BHX) and becouse of things out of its control then snub that airport (BHX) and then sneakily do a deal with a rival airport just becouse it thinks its reputation hasnt been eroded at that rival airport. Some people might think that is being clever but i dont.

Anyway lets see if this is confirmed first. I will leave it here for now.

Manchester have no reason to want Primera especially New York so very much doubt
they will offer a deal and then upset all their regulars

What impact would Primera really have on MAN though? Can't see TCX, VIR or UAL pulling out of NYC and Washington has been left unserved since United pulled out a few years ago.

All speculation at this point until Primera confirms whats happening next year.

There is a big difference between a slot application (often speculative / tactical) and an announced and bookable scheduled service. It would be a mistake to interpret Primera's intentions too literally at this stage. They could be just keeping their options open, or be playing airports off against each other to secure a better deal (where they want it). We don't know, and won't know until the company makes an announcement (if that happens at all). As mentioned by others, the MAN-EWR/JFK market is highly competitive with established well-known brands entrenched. MAN-IAD is a vacant route so there could be a case made for that, though seasonality could be an issue.

If you view competition between airports from the perspective of a "supporter" then you will never comprehend the real-world processes involved. Some allegiances are best confined to the football terraces. There is even angst on another thread over who posted a new route news item first ... should it have been left to a "supporter" of the airport in question to break the news? Please ... do grow up. The idea of a forum is for all to post and discuss relevant news as and when they receive it.

This wonderful 'Micky Mouse' airline, now seems to have a technical issue with their 737 YL-PSG, the morning flight to Malaga due out at 07:00 is now estimating 14 1/2 hours late at 21:30, shocking performance, can only presume they are hoping to operate the afternoon Palma on time, with the Malaga after it.

Im sorry, but the sooner we see the back of this airline at BHX, the better! (n)

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
