Sorry to hear that, hopefully the return will be a better experience :(

I've never been to Gran Canaria but I was under the impression that Puerto Rico was more of a family orientated resort? We were looking at it as a potential destination for next year but with the kids still quite young I'd rather avoid the 'all day in the pub and chips with everything' crowd?

Puetro Ric is sort of pub and chips but quit a variety too commercial for us 10 minutes down the road look at Puerto Mogan different class small totally family friendly wide choices of food great for small kids try Cordial Valle or Marina Apartments ask for harbour view with roof garden. Trip adviser is pretty accurate on this resort we have been many times.
And enjoy Puerto Mogan.

Is La Caracola still there? We always had to book to get a meal there.

I'll let you know.

Back to Ryanair havn’t heard a dicky bird, not suprised anyway off for an Italian at Entaco's tonight.

Ray I'm not holding my breath and even more oddly I am sat on the balcony of the Valle right now top floor having just come back from watching the mighty Blues by the way the balconies area are huge sun beds, tables, all weather turf (I kid you not) and an outside shower that's not the Blues by the way. Miles off topic, sorry holiday mood.

Ryanair can get lost.

You can look at Ryanair in different ways so looking at the BHX operation they are running around 20 flights a day which is about the same as Lufthansa, Air France, KLM and SAS combined. Given Ryanair's high load factors they will be carrying considerably more passengers than the others combined total.

They are not everyone's cup of tea but for fill an important role at BHX.

We are looking to book for Gran Canaria next April/May and I really want to try Jet2 the best price I can find is approx £165 return so am waiting for Ryanair to release flights as this year they were pretty much half the price and ditto for this October. As eveyone knows its not all about price but Ryanair's success shows it is in reality for many.

What has been released so far is just a carbon copy of last year. I'll be amazed if we see any increases, in fact the way things are going standing still may actually be something to break out the champagne for
According to their news website the full schedule will be out in autumn. I suspect a few of our Eastern European routes may be at risk of the chop in the next year or two.

I know it is not BHX related, but Ryanair announced a new Southend base today. Chance to have my Southend to Brum route, but sadly usual summer sun destinations.

Local news questioning why a new base so close to Stansted.....improved rail links (Crossrail) was key.....bodes well for any airports with a HS2 station being built near by.....

According to reports,Ryanair are to reduce their Dublin based fleet from 30 to 24 aircraft during the coming winter.
This is going to affect at least some routes, whether a reduction In frequency or cancelled altogether.
It is unclear at this point How flights to the U.K. will be affected.I know that at least some of the BHX flights are operated by a BHX based aircraft.I believe that other bases around the U.K. also have the same,so flights to and from ROI should be as published.
One of the reasons given was due to the recent strike action.Another was the success of the Polish holiday subsidiary. That fleet is being doubled from 5 to 10 airframes.
One to keep an eye on perhaps.

I think its about 50/50 BHX based to DUB based. Wouldn't be surprised if we see multiple UK airports lose a daily rotation though. At least we know why.

Further to my post above,100 pilots and 200 cabin crew have been issued notices today telling them they may not be needed after October 2018.
Sounds like this could be a permanent move by the airline who are saying that high fare bookings are way down due to the industrial action.
Ryanair’s loss could well be to Aer Lingus’ advantage.

Thinking about it,as this is not BHX specific, would it be worth moving to a different thread??

I'll leave your posts here as they are definitely relevant to Birmingham but there is a wider discussion happening on the Worldwide Airline Forum which I've linked below.

Please feel free to duplicate all or part of any posts made on either thread :)

Some destinations for S19 are now on sale.

I looked at BCN, AGP, ALC and PMI and unsurprisingly it looks a carbon copy of this year.

I'm not surprised either. I think a big extravagant Ryanair expansion anywhere would be overshadowed by their other issues at the minute

Ref: Ryanair and the Polish unit...I noticed on the RAF Brize Norton departure page that Ryanair are serving Espargos using A330 possibly code sharing with RAF ERR code. Maybe I have misinterpreted this.

Anyway, I am pleased RAF/AIRTANKER are back since means a low pass over my home ex BZZ. I notice Voyage remains on the ground at BHX @13.25 !

Espargos then on to the Falklands.

It's been posted elsewhere that this will continue weekly until Sept due to runway works at Brize, credit to that poster for the info.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
