1.0 SUMMARY
1.1 Works continue airside to construct new aprons and taxi-lanes and to reconfigure existing airside areas to form the new Terminal 2, Pier 2 Remote Stands.
2.0 PROGRAMME
2.1 Overall: Friday 25th October 2019 until Wednesday 4th December 2019.
2.2 Working hours
2.2.1 Nominal working hours will be Monday to Friday 08:00-18:00hrs and Sunday to Thursday 20:00-06:00hrs local; at other times as required by programme and advised to MAG Operations
3.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS
3.1 The scope of works is:
• Excavation of grass areas and laying of new concrete pavement.
• Installation of electrical pit and duct lines.
• Modification/maintenance works to fuel hydrant system.
• Cathodic protection installation for fuel hydrant system.
• Installation of aeronautical ground lighting (AGL).
• Removal and application of surface markings.
• Saw cutting of new concrete pavement.
• Joint sealing within Taxiways Delta and November strips.
• Head of stand equipment installation and associated electrical works.
• Base construction and high mast light installation.
• Remove red/white melbas from Taxiways Delta and November strips.
3.2 The main works site is at the north-western end of the airfield, encompassing the former ASTL November-Alpha and the remaining grass areas either side. See attached drawing for exact locations. 4.1 Stand Restrictions during works on Taxiway November
4.1.1 Whilst work is in progress on TWY November abeam Stand 72, night-stopping aircraft are to be parked on Stand 72.
4.2 Taxiway Closures and Restrictions
4.2.1 Taxiways November and Delta will be closed at times to complete the joint sealing within the Code E (B747 / A330) taxiway strip on the northern and southern borders of the main work site.
4.2.2 Works within the strip of Taxiways November and Delta will not go ahead concurrently. Access to and from Terminal 2 Pier 1 will remain available throughout the works.
4.2.3 The low-level blocks surrounding the area requiring joint sealing are placed at 20 metres from the centreline of Delta (outside the graded portion of the strip). Wingtips of aircraft using Delta will overhang the work area, which will be clear of any upstanding objects or loose materials.
4.2.4 The Aeronautical Ground Lights (AGLs) along Taxiway November from abeam Stand 74 to 72, along the relocated ASTL November Alpha and around the radii on to Taxiway Delta to abeam Stand 243 will remain unlit H24 throughout this works programme. Airfield Operations will provide a Follow Me vehicle during the hours of darkness and low visibility operations.
4.3 Pushback Procedures
4.3.1 When Taxiway Delta is closed from abeam Stand 243 the following non‐standard pushbacks are to be instructed by ATC:
• Stands 211, 237, 239, 241 and 243 - Pushback and pull forward to stand 237. Tug release and engine start abeam stand 237.
• Stands 104, 106, 108, 110, 112, 114 & 116 – push to face west (towards cargo sheds)
4.3.2 When Taxiway November is closed abeam Stand 72 the following non‐standard pushbacks are to be instructed by ATC:
• Stands 70, 71, 83 & 84 - Pushback and pull forward to stand 70. Tug release and engine start abeam stand 70.
• Stand 72 pushback can be facilitated by giving the contractor a 30-minute notice to vacate the area within Taxiway November strip, including the removal of all equipment.
5.0 LOW VISIBILITY OPERATIONS (LVO)
5.1 The works will have no effect on Low Visibility Procedures.
5.2 Works within the strip of Taxiways Delta and November will not be permitted in the event of forecast low visibility operations.
5.3 Work may continue within the main site during periods of low visibility at the ADM’s discretion.
