Well, it's not written by the BBC business correspondent it? So perhaps the writer didn't have an agenda.
He was fairly positive about the airport in his last report. He can be quoted for saying "what I like about this development is you're going to be able to see the planes". He was referring to the view from the new departure level in the terminal extension.

Was only a matter of time before "the group that shall not be named" got their airtime, Leeds Live.

Good on Vince Hodder for calling them out. He told the ACC 2 years back he had invited them to meet but they then tried imposing various demands before doing so, which Vince quite rightly refused. Personally, I wouldnt give any of them the time of day and they can shove their teddy bears where the sun don't shine.

Typical of Leeds Live to give them the space to air their grievances, although they come across as pathetic, selfish, backward thinking NIMBYs.

The comments are quite unanimously in favour of the airports which is good to see

Good. I feel sure the initial burst of negativity stemmed from those who oppose the airport down the A1 and those in the group that shall not be mentioned here. The Airport Support Group has proved in the past that the support vastly outweighs the opposition, but the problem is that the majority tend to get on with their lives and say little. Its a shame the noisy minority can't do the same.

Unfortunately in all walks of life the negative few tend to speak loudest. In work meetings, football supporters and developments there might be overwhelming support but that one voice can always be the loudest and most noticed

Leeds Live and all it's different iterations from around the country are an odd mis-mash of half-arsed reporting, so much copy and pasting that their reporter's keyboards will have the writing on Crtl, V & C keys worn out, and very misleading headlines. Alongside this story, and a couple on the opening of the extension & how well it's been received are headlines like "Brits heading to Spain issued warning amid new £164 nightly charge". In fact in just a couple of days there are several "Brits issued warning about <enter travel destination>" type stories.

Turns out this "nightly charge" simply refers to the average price per night staying in Spanish resorts, although it doesn't attempt to qualify what data they actually used. So it's not really a surprise to see them hunting down the Unspeakables to try and spin a story out of it. Quite frankly if our only news source, and I use the term news very lightly here, was Leeds Live, none of us would ever leave the house again after reading about warning after warning that they issue about absolutely ever facet of life. One has to take so much salt with Leeds Live articles, that it could cause serious blood pressure issues!

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?
