Yep, much as I am sure they want to side with a certain group, they know that argument would be totally flawed
They don't. I have it on good authority that the Council are sick to death of that certain group and their refusal to prosecute tends to prove that they are not intending to bow to their pressure.

My personal view is they don't want to go to court because they are probably not convinced about the strength of their legal position, especially with the two critical CLEUDs outstanding - and if LBA win those, then they apparently would be immune from enforcement anyway even if they do breach the 1994 planning approval .

The Council are better off spending the money on filling in a few potholes than pursuing LBA, lining the pockets of lawyers. LCC are strapped for cash anyway and it wouldn’t be a good look. The ordinary citizen is more concerned that their bins are emptied on time than nightime flying at LBA.

From mail online today. Looks like the group that shall not be mentioned are going national with this in a sign of their desperation that they are powerless in the night flying saga. No doubt they are hoping to stir up public opinion against the airport.

Well spotted.

Well if you buy a house on Scotland Estate, what do you expect? I went to look at a property on there in the 1990s and didnt buy as a Fokker F27 went over whilst we were in the garden, I could see the pilot! Love planes but had the common sense to think, the airport will get busier! Some people are just thick!

People on that estate are generally supportive of the airport. Its the ones who live further out that arent.

I loved this:

A Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) spokesman said:

'LBA remains confident in its interpretation of Leeds City Council's night flight regulation and will continue to operate within this strict interpretation, as it has done for many years.'

Most of the photos were from the 'Scotlands' apart from the Morrisons Local on Broadgate Lane in Horsforth!

I was awake at 2.30 either Friday or Saturday morning (bloody foxes!) and 2 flights came in within 5 minutes of each other, I had the window open (Horsforth 1/2 mile to the left of the flight path) and thought that they actually sounded quieter than they do in the day time!

My grandson lived very close to the end of Edinburgh's runway, so close you could almost make out who the pilot was, but when we stayed there we hardly heard any aircraft noise or not at all, and remember Edinburgh handles 3 to 4 more flights than LBA.

Just seen the comments on this article on the dried fruit forum....

The article doesn't tell the full story.

The airport has had night flights for many years including previously when it was under public ownership. The rules were interpreted wrong by the then council owners who allowed additional night movements due to a misinterpretation of the rules. When the airport was sold to a private company the new owners simple carried on with the same interpretation of the rules.

Decades on and in line with planning law, if for example you open an Indian takeaway changing the use from a clothes shop and nobody says anything. After ten years has alapsed, you can apply for this rules to be removed. This is essentially what the airport is doing here.

These people know this and it's the same NIMBYS who didn't want a new terminal. The Airport Support Group warned GALBA it wouldn't stop the airport from expanding. And here we are today, no new terminal but with construction underway on a £100m regeneration project REGEN.

Trawling through the comments on the article I see the main person on the article - our friend Mr Tate, GALBA committee member and flight stat compiler extraordinaire (facts he choses not to reference in his interview) tries to further justify his position ie
“I bought my house in 1999, AMP bought Leeds Bradford Airport in 2017, so I have been here 18 years longer them. They bought an airport near my house, not the other way round. And my house was built in 1930, when the airport was still a field, so wrong on all counts.

And they knew what they were buying: an airport with night time restrictions, so they need to honour those restrictions”.

Is this guy for real?? What has AMP got to do with anything?? Night flights were permitted way before he even bought his house near LBA! He moves there and now complains his sleep is disturbed - which of course even if LBA remained within the restrictions he refers to would still be the case!

He really is a self serving lunatic.

These so called news articles are cobbled together bits of sh*te, written by muppets who probably spend most of their day communicating in emoji’s to their mates. Half the time there is a headline and nowhere in the content is there anything of significance. Regarding those interviewed, what I find interesting, is if they are so unhappy with where they live, why not just move? All that effort, doing spreadsheets and interviews, bloody hell, get on with your life man, you are totally wasting your time. Move down the road, get a hobby, and you may actually find a life you enjoy. It’s like Victor Meldrew sydndrome🙄

Complaining about LBA is his hobby. An obsessive one. What a life! Totally wasted complaining about something he will never defeat. The problem is that these idiots start to believe their own nonsense. I wonder if other airports have similar pains in the backside who waste their lives counting aircraft movements ?

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?
