@Bigman will agree with me on this one, the Volvo B7TL wright eclipse gemini's that Firstbus use roar so loud that you can hear them nealy a mile away.
They are so much louder than anything that currently fly's out of LBA

Bring back the VC10''s, TU154's, BAC111's, DC9's, Boeing 737-200's, L1011 Tristar & Concorde, those were the days!

Well after watching tonights totally one sided report (again) I’ve drafted a formal complaint to the BBC. This is on the basis that the reporter appeared to present unsubstantiated claims as “matter of fact“, neglected to reference the fact that LCC are collating flight numbers and compliance to the planning rules, only contained interviews with opponents of the airport and yet again failed to present any alternative positive viewpoint from the public or users of the airport.

Probably won’t go anywhere but at least it’s on the record!

great work. Be interesting to see what they say in their reply if you get one. I literally can't watch the one sided anti LBA reports coming from Look North and Calendar too. Makes me so mad.

Yes the 'roarers' are a staple on the Aireline 60/60A operated by Transdev. There are some ex-First ones working on school services to St Mary's in Menston. And yes the biggest noise pollution near me is dick head drivers late at night trying to burn their engines out

This was the letter I sent to the to the BBC complaints Dept.
”Biased coverage of Leeds Bradford Airport issues

I am writing to complain about the constant negative and one sided reporting by BBC Look North Yorkshire (Leeds) and its transport correspondent Spencer Stokes in respect of Leeds Bradford airport.

On this evening edition the reporter made unsubstantiated claims that the airport had breached its threshold for night flights and presented a graphic to endorse this point. These numbers have not been validated as correct and have been collated by the anti airport group GALBA. There was no mention made by the reporter that Leeds City Council are actually recording the number of flights and adherence to its planning policy, neither did the reporter reach out to the Council to validate the claims made by the airport opponent’s and were presented by the reporter as a matter of fact.

Tonights report only provided one viewpoint - that of the anti airport group GALBA. It only contained interviews with GALBA members and those opposed to the airport. The reporter failed to reach out to seek those with a different view point, both local residents, businesses and users of the airport and as such put forward a totally biased view in respect of claims which have yet to be substantiated.

This is the third report this year by Spencer Stokes which has only presented the viewpoint of GALBA, the anti airport group and failed to provide a balanced commentary in respect of the many benefits the airport brings to the local community and its economy or has sought to seek the views of those who support the airport. One can only conclude your reporter has an agenda to only present the views of those who oppose the airport.

I trust that you will look into this matter and remind your reporter of his obligations and to ensure that further reporting represents a balanced viewpoint in respect of Leeds Bradford airport”.

If anybody feels the same it’s quite easy to raise a complaint here https://www.bbc.co.uk/contact/complaints

Will let you know what I get back from the BBC.

Wow an excellent letter sent to the bbc, its about time people took action against this organisation, at the very least they should be a balanced report, local media should be promoting yorkshires airport as well as other things in the city, in the north west the people there seem to embrace development, there proud of their airports there but here its always anti negative reporting with only the nimby folk spouting rubbish, and as for spencer stokes, don't get me started..

Interesting Birmingham Airport comparison information here courteous of @antmc03 BHX forums4airports.

Night Noise Blocks all QC 2 / 4 / 8 / 16 movements between 2300-0555L Night Departure Cap S24

Limit Departures: 624 departures scheduled off chocks between 2315-0450L Night Movement Cap

S24 Limit Totals: 4263 total movements scheduled between 2330-0600L

So 343 additional movements over LBA but over a night period that is 1.5 hours shorter and more in line with what night time means at most regional airports . Over the entire summer, that equates to a significant difference given how many LBA flights are scheduled to depart between 0600-0700, none if which count at BHX towards their 4263.

LBA seems destined to always have to compete with one hand tied behind its back thanks to our dithering self serving council plans panel councillors over the years.

If the airport does pursue a new application in the future it should insist 06:00 - 07:00 isn't considered as the night-time period.
The sad thing is that when the Council approved the new terminal it also approved bringing LBAs night time hours in line (2330-0600). Job done and problem gone away until the terminal scheme was withdrawn taking the revised operating hours with it. Now LBAs back to square one.

They who shall not be named saw how near they were to that change and they've clearly upped their game with anti airport reterick at every opportunity , which I'm sure is intended to ensure that any future planning application is rejected. That's why they are so concerned about the exemption certificates. They know full well that if successful the way is clear for LBA to grow without the need to seek planning approval and their influence is diminished.

Bring it on!

My great hope is that the Airport have acted on well researched legal advice and I`m sure they have. They have taken their time, seen the opportunity and seized it...As Heather says.... Bring it on!

The statement which accompanies the applications is written by their legal advisors, not the airport, so clearly they have been and are still being advised by an expert in planning law.

I`d put money on Galba not having such an expert. They do of course have access to plenty of the usual experts on hatred/envy/ nothing better to do/bullshit....delete as applicable, although some tick all those categories.

Im going to write in as well. Its no good just complaining amongst ourselves.
Still waiting a response back on mine - will circulate when I do.
The more that write in the better- as I used to say to my team at work - “You get what you tolerate”! So it’s important the BBC hear people’s views on the matter.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
